We had the good fortune of connecting with Elie Dib Caiazzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF and you’re going to conquer the world (your world) When I became an immigrant woman I went through a lot of things and my thoughts were too negative. Insecurity took my mind. I thought I would never work in my field again, I would never work as a journalist again, or even achieve success in anywhere. I went from being an outstanding professional and work for the most important media outlets in my native country, Venezuela, to being a journalist part of a minority in a market with a lot of competitors. I felt there was not any room from me or someone like me here. My fears were too many to give some credit to my experience and talent.
I had to work hard on my inner strength to BELIEVE in myself and my potential again. Believing that I was going to be able to achieve success, find a job, and excel. Two years after that process of BELIEVING, I am in a leadership position in one of the most important Spanish-language media outlets in the United States and recently, my work was recognized with an Emmy Award and most important, I am happy doing what I love, what I know how to do best and what can help Latino community. With my story and my process, I’m also helping other women and immigrants like me to believe in their potential to achieve their dreams in the United States.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I started I didn’t know that I would dedicate my career to branding and digital content development. I have been able to grow and elevate businesses to incredibly high levels and personalities to positions they always dreamed of. That has been a great achievement for me but also the reason why I am in the United States and why I became an immigrant. One of the last brand projects I worked on was with a very high-level politician in Venezuela and that is why I had to leave my native country, due to the danger my life was in.
I thought it would be an abrupt change as a professional, to go from politics to news once again, but knowledge, creativity and being able to adapt to change is the true basis of the work I do today in the digital world and is applicable for almost everything in life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite places an things to do: Hiking in Island Ford Trail to the Chattahoochee River, a walk by Historic Roswell place, Downtown Atlanta and Ponce de Leon Avenue.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My tutor Jorge Ezenarro, who motivated, taught and encouraged me throughout my career. He passed at the beginning of 2021 but his words are always alive in my heart: “To be great you must believe in yourself, be a good person, help others and break the rules a little.” He was always right.
