We had the good fortune of connecting with Eli Jas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eli, what role has risk played in your life or career?
The beginning of my music career at 19 was the beginning of me taking risks for myself and what I love. At the time, I was releasing covers of songs on my YouTube account and I was able to do something I loved and be consistent with it. My mother reached out to an A&R Angel Vasquez and showed him my video of my cover Seduceme by La India and asked what the next step for me would be. It was an opportunity we jumped on and till this day I know if that if this risk of rejection wasn’t taken I would have never seen the amazing opportunities I’ve had throughout my career. Now I focus on achievement instead of perfection.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My strengths as a creative have evolved so much throughout my career and made me see that my story is just as enticing as the end goals. My journey is just as important as the achievements I reach. My music career allowed me to express my emotions, write more, and transmute the energy into art. In 2018 I created my own business Flourish Entertainment and Publishing and I wanted to create a brand that would inspire those on the creative journey and create clothing and jewelry that are statement pieces and this also invited me to express my style. The Lucid Lotus flower represents our intuition and to always use it when creating and making decisions. Chatting With Jas was created during the pandemic and since artist’s were not able to have many shows at the time, I paved a way to still express myself using my voice and it’s going to continue to grow. I think what sets me apart is the fact that I know this is just not about me…It’s about my community and building it together and into the right direction of peace.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m definitely not much of the planner in my friend group, but if I absolutely had to my list would be full of places to eat like Jacob’s Pickles, Los Marisco’s Tacos, Fonda, and more.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest supporter and first investor into my career was my mom. She was the first person who believed I can do anything I set my mind to and she was right – as mom’s always are! 🙂
