Meet Eddie Cortez | Social Media Influencer & Entrepeneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eddie Cortez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eddie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Ultimately I decided to go down the creative path because I’ve just always been a creative person, so I finally just decided to monetize from it. Even as a kid I loved to draw, paint, and even try to come up with crazy inventions. So as I became older I kind of pinpointed what exactly I wanted to venture in. I eventually decided using my media platforms to entertain, enlighten, and inspire people was the way for me to go.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I just recently launched my new podcast Essentially Eddie, which is now on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and Audible. I am beyond proud of it because it’s now my platform for me to speak my truth. I would have to describe my work as self-help entertainment. I discuss relationships, life goals, mental health, manifestation and so much more. I use my humor to help heal from past events I’ve been through and try to help others use that same approach. It took me a very long time to finally get comfortable in my own skin and now I’m ready to speak my truth and walk in my purpose. It definitely was not easy, but I wouldn’t change anything from the past because all of it had led me to where I am today. I was the only child and on top of that I was very quiet, so it was always hard for me to speak up for myself and a lot of the time it was used against me. After enduring so much and staying quiet for so long I slowly began to find who I am and pinpoint exactly what my purpose is. I still have a very long way to go but every day is a step in the right direction. If one person takes something away from the podcast or if it helps someone, while making them laugh along the way, I can wholeheartedly say I’ve done my job. I also just recently launched my fitness page E.fit Essentials on Instagram, tracking my fitness journey and my progression. I use this page as motivation for others to pursue their journey because I know how hard being consistent in fitness actually is. I’m also happy to announce my fitness clothing line is now in production so stay tuned for that!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since I’ve just recently moved to Atlanta, I haven’t had the chance to venture out and see much of the city just yet. My best friend did just recently visit so I had the chance to take her to a few spots that I’ve really enjoyed so far. We took a nice stroll through Piedmont Park, and I loved the scenery as well as the whole vibe of the situation. The Botanical Garden is definitely on my list of places to visit next. Now for food, my first stop would have to be Henry’s Midtown Tavern. I went there for my birthday last year and the food was absolutely great. I was just recently introduced to Taco Mac and they’re one of my new low-key spots to have a quick bite. Then when it comes to nightlife, Havana Nightclub and Moondogs in Buckhead were some of the most fun times I’ve had. I’ve been here a couple months now but there is still so much more I would love to see and experience from the city life and I can’t wait.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to say my best friend Hannah Siebold has made a huge impact on my road to success. She was with me in the beginning when I was lost and heading in the wrong direction but stayed with me as I slowly found myself. She’s always been supportive of every idea and concept I’ve ever brought to her and continues to do such. I will forever support her as well in anything she chooses to do and I’m beyond grateful to call her my best friend.
