We had the good fortune of connecting with Ed Pryor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ed, why did you pursue a creative career?
The ability and freedom to imagine something and then eventually create it is …. everything to me. Manifesting. You know, whether that is a song idea or music video concept.
The complications, the compromises, building a team, whatever it may be – each body of work has a story. The process of bringing that idea into fruition is something I really enjoy.
The bonus is to eventually share with others… and hopefully someone likes it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I don’t think there is any secret answer or cheat code for my process. I really just work extremely hard. Where I’m from you aren’t really exposed to the things I took interest in. So if I was starting out “behind” I knew I had to overcompensate for that with effort.
I’ve always put myself in a space to learn and grow. Avoid distractions.
I also seek out mentors and progressive opportunities… from there I attempt to stay consistent in my pursuit of goals.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Anything out East is the move, but I’m really low-key. So, I stay tapped-in with people more qualified to answer this, ha. But I know alot of dope playmakers, DJ’s, and promoters who operate some of the best events in the city. It would depend on the vibe, because there is always something going on here.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m thankful for anybody that has assisted me in my journey! – but most importantly my family. I think it goes without saying – but without their influence and encouragement things would be much different.
