We had the good fortune of connecting with Ebony Sanders and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ebony, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Letting go of fear, and what people think of your ideas. I had to learn to quit asking for opinions or approval and start going with my gut.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started ILoveTexture in 2018. Initially when I started it was to be my own boss. My vision wasn’t clear and it was more about the freedom and not being limited creatively. Over time I noticed how much I love educating my clients, creating regimens and overall seeing results. Of course, nothing about being a business owner is easy, we just make it look that way. There are tons of education, and so many hours spent editing, doing a payroll, branding etc that most people don’t even think about. For so long, I didn’t have a day off, there was and still is always something else that needs to be done.
Challenges are always gonna come, in my opinion there aren’t many ways to prepare for it. You just have to be able to handle it when it happens.
When it comes to my brand, I want people to know that it’s my heart and soul. I love it tremendously. ILoveTexture is a salon for Natural Hair women, who ultimately just want healthy hair. Whether it’s worn straight or curly the health of their hair is never compromised by me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Omgosh I’m the worst person for this question lol. Hopefully my bestie will be okay with seeing some of the cool art and murals all over Atlanta. I’ve become a huge fan of art and taking photos so hopefully she is just as impressed. As far as good food we are heading right to Roc Southern Cuisine. I love the food and atmosphere there so much.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My amazing clients, my life changing therapist and my amazing life coach. They have all helped me reach new heights in my life and my career.
