We had the good fortune of connecting with Ebony King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ebony, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?

Maya Angelou’s quote, “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style,” is my favorite because it encapsulates my personal philosophy and inspires me to remain authentic to who I am.

I wear many hats in life – from leading a non-profit, excelling in sales leadership, and navigating the world as a woman in tech, to embracing the roles of a devoted mom, a supportive wife, and a creative individual. At the core of all these diverse responsibilities and passions, you’ll find my unwavering commitment to infusing everything I do with passion, compassion, and a touch of style.

Maya Angelou’s powerful words deeply resonate with me as they reflect my belief that life should be more than a mere series of tasks and obligations. It is a call to action, reminding me that my purpose is not just to exist, but to thrive in every role I fulfill.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Through my non-profit, Tabitha’s TEA Party, I empower women to GET UP from dead places. We host Bible studies through TEA Parties and annual conferences to help women connect, create, and draw closer to their God-given identity. Tabitha’s TEA Party is named after a female disciple in the book of Acts who was known for doing good and helping the poor. Through her story, we learn that she died and was raised from death by prayer. She is an example that God can get you up from anything, and he can help you find life even in the places you thought were dead. My testimony is a story of a girl who got up, which inspired my most recent book, Black Wings Still Fly. Black Wings Still Fly, for anyone who has ever felt their adversity was too heavy for them to rise.

I am also the visionary behind Think King Consulting Group, where I help people and organizations transform forward by THINKING greater about their goals, concepts, and vision. Professionally, I am an IT Sales Manager for a Software Company where I lead a healthy, happy, high-performing sales team.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When it comes to the best spot near Atlanta, Alpharetta is where it’s at for me. The Avalon hotel offers pure luxury, and Cafe Intermezzo serves the best coffee and pastries around. It strikes the perfect balance between tranquility and accessibility, being away from the city traffic but just a short drive from all the action. It’s the best of both worlds, and I love it!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shoutout to my amazing daughters. As a woman raising future women, I constantly push myself to live a life that I can wholeheartedly encourage them to live. I refuse to be a “do as I say, not as I do” parent. Instead, I strive to be a woman who lives with courage, so that they may also find the strength to pursue their dreams and confront their fears.
