We had the good fortune of connecting with Ebonee Tabb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ebonee, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have a multitude of reasons for starting my own business. Both of my businesses aid me in fulfilling my purpose in life which is to serve people. Aikomus helps people recenter themselves by providing selfcare products that nourishes them spirituality and physically. Through Eboneejmua I get the privilege to pour into whoever sits in my chair and make them look beautiful in the process. I get to show my children that in a world where there is still oppression and racism, we can still persevere and be a success. I’m a first-generation business owner. It was important for me to show them that they can be their own boss and how to build wealth.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career has had quite an evolution. I worked in a salon initially where I was told by the owner that I wouldn’t make it in this industry because I wasn’t good at going out and building clientele. Little did I know that behind the chair wasn’t my lane. I got an opportunity to assist Alexis Fagan on a short film and ended up joining her agency where I would get booked for other bigger projects like commercials and music videos. I started to build relationships in the industry and began to work with some of Atlanta’s best creatives. Now I work for a television station where I am working on winning an Emmy. It has been an amazing journey. I was extremely blessed. Although the journey was amazing, it did have its ups and downs. Life started to happen in and outside of my career. For those times when life felt hectic and it was difficult to balance out responsibilities, I was very intentional about selfcare. I would create special bath salts made to rebalanace and renew my mind, body and spirit. I would feel like new after my soak. That is how Aikomus was born which means intention in finish. Its a spiritual selfcare line. It is a farm to vanity, ethnobotanical approach to selfcare designed to bring you back to center using nature made, handcrafted, unrefined, non-conventional organic products for the body and spirit. We infuse our products with herbs that aid to the efficacy of the products.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to a few of my favorite food places like Fish Camp, West Egg, Gus’s Famous Fried Chicken, Another Broken Egg, Frankie’s steakhouse and Popbar in Alpharetta. I would take them to Ponce City Market to explore and ride around the beltline, Amicalola falls to see the beautiful waterfall and take in the scenery on a hike. I would take them to Ellijay to the apple orchards to pick apples and zip line. Those hand pies that they make there are awesome also. I would take them on a getaway in North Georgia. That’s an experience. Really chill and scenic. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a group of favorite people that have been behind me and pushed me forward in all ways not just in business. Shout out to my babies Alana Green, Anaya Green and Amir Green. Shoutout to my solid support team Jeremy Pollock of JP Inspections, Angelia McCall , Kimberlee Francis, Tony Davis of Gekko & Co and also The Aweman Podcast, Sasha Beard of Precise Exposure, Iyana Dazevedo, DeShawn Dazevedo, Taniza Tabb, Adeyemi Green. I will forever be grateful to them for holding me up during this most arduous journey.
