We had the good fortune of connecting with Ducharme Holley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ducharme, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The way I see it – you aren’t truly living if you aren’t taking risks. I’ve come to realize that we live in a perpetual state of the unknown, though, many of us live as though we know what’s to come next. We don’t – and to me, I learned to truly embrace that over the course of the last year, especially. I can’t say that I’ve always resonated with risk taking, but this version of me is all about it. Starting Charme Collective was surely a risk being that 1. It is my first business and 2. I have been slow to put all of my creative talents out there because I’m an artist and you know the rest… However, further proving my earlier point, me putting myself and talents out there have garnered nothing but an outpour of love and support. I am so honored to have received all the positivity thus far and I am inspired to keep it going!!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My brand “Charme Collective” is self titled. My first name is Ducharme, but those close to me call me Charme for short. Making my name a part of my brand was probably the easiest decision because I had decided that I was done playing small. My work is original, one of a kind and my name will be heard. The year 2020 helped me regain my focus in almost every area of my life and ultimately, bet on myself. I am still in the midst of my story, but I will say – taking out the time to get to know who you truly are is a pro tip. Knowing who you are will make every “scary” decision necessary. Placing value upon yourself, like we do everything else, is key to seeing it through. Everyday isn’t the easiest and a certain mindset must be cultivated to keep it going… But as my story is still being written, I am learning to go with the flow of life and that Divine timing is going to do it’s thing anyway, so let’s just go with it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When friends come to visit I like to know what they want out of their visit and I go from there! I love hosting! Georgia is hands down one of the most beautiful states in the US and is filled with immense nature to be explored. With that being said, I plan a mean hiking trip! For the friends who are into the outdoors, we’ll get up early one morning and hike the East Palisades trail and ultimately find ourselves grounding with all that is. We’ll probably treat ourselves to a nice dinner at Little Alley Steak one night because we deserve and hit a bar or speak easy after. Sunday fundays are usually the best time! We start off with a fun filled brunch at one of the many tasty spots that Atlanta has to offer, find ourselves at Ponce City Market and cap the day off by bar hopping and grabbing more friends along the way.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my big sister, Dionne Holley! This pandemic has brought us closer in the most unexpected ways and I am grateful for her. This past year has been quite a transitional period for me and she has been a blessing through it all. Thank you for everything sis I love you!
