Meet Druex Kaine | Entrepreneur, Artist, Producer, & Engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Druex Kaine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Druex, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Whatever one is doing will be validated over time. Good or Bad. I feel as though time and various conditions are a good indicator of ones continuance or exit. Just as in the highway there are road signs and caution lights, I feel as though there are signs in our life to direct us in the path we should go. Although no one should be forced to give up anything, I do believe one should follow their dreams to the death.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an Artist, I paint masterpieces through musical expression. My love for music and love for the studio began when I was younger growing up as a church musician. The connection with music was easy for me to grasp because of that, however even though I can produce my own music I feel that I have had to overcome challenges that are configured for someone in my position. In today’s music culture collaboration is a big thing and there are a lot of musicians collaborating on a daily basis, with that being said even though I have worked over 20 plus years overall as a musician that is totally different from working in the music industry. It wasn’t until I was in my mid 20s that I really began to take it to another level and really pursue this as a career, I’m arriving by taking the stairs and learning from the people around me and many of my own mistakes. God has truly taken me through a humbling process that has allowed me to no longer see time and opportunity the way I once did with a new perspective. I’ve learned about true humility so I know for a fact I’m on right path and I’m just getting started with all aspects of my life. I got married young and at a point in my life I felt I came along way but went the wrong way and after my divorce that led a very negative place and that was a battle that only God and I could fight. Once I made it through that very hard place with the help of God,my close family and loved ones I have learned the true value and understanding of love and relationships therefore I’ve chosen to be good at people which is more important to me now than ever. I want people to know that self love Is vital to all but especially in the creative aspect I feel you can never truly seek to become your best self until you have the right mindset, respect and love for yourself and only then can you help others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
That’s a good one! It really just depends on where I’m located at the time honestly. I’m always on the go however whenever I’m in Alabama, a quick ride on 65 North or the slab as we call it, leads us to the Lakeview District in Birmingham or the Uptown area. Head over to Paramount Bar and get a burger is always the move. When Im in Atlanta.. Barcelona Wine Bar in the Highland Ave District is definitely my go to spot. Love the vibe and the people. Cypress Street and Davinci’s in Midtown and Bocado on West Midtown are some of my favorite grub spots. Cant forget about Mamas Tacos off Piedmont too. Speaking of Piedmont… The park is most definitely be my place to workout, network, grab a bite, and just relax. Now that a lot of places are allowing people to come back into their establishments, there are a lot of things you can do it’s just about availability and accessibly in today’s time.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I appreciate God for always keeping me and allowing me the time to grow mentally, spiritually, and naturally. I’m the man I need to be and its because of Him. He gives me the ability to work my craft on a day to day basis and because of that I’m beyond blessed.
