We had the good fortune of connecting with Dream and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dream, is there something you believe many others might not?
“Don’t sleep until your rich”
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Lavish Dream is a boutique that I started in 2018 during my junior year of high school. Since I started working jobs as a freshman I quickly grew tired of the corporate life and decided I wanted to work for myself. I thought about my passions, interest, and what I love to do and decided to start a beauty/fashion business. I got on Google, did some research on how to start, then went out to find my vendors. I started with lashes and moved to clothing & accessories. It wasn’t that hard to start but it wasn’t that easy. The biggest challenge is marketing/gaining your first few sales and posting consistently. Staying motivated and active is key. Always look at the end goal to stay motivated. Lessons I’ve learned are that breaks are detrimental. Taking vacation time is great but never leave unannounced or without letting your customers know your taking a break. They will move on quick and easy, forget your brand ever existed and find the next best thing. I encourage all women of all ages to go the entrepreneurship route. Starting my business was the best decision ever made.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It depends on their interest but since Atlanta is known for nightlife, good food/drinks, and good music, I would first suggest the lounge or strip club.
We would eat at Harold’s Chicken, JR crickets, Blue Flame/Magic City, the local seafood spots or famous Mexican, J Alexander’s, and Slutty Vegan.
Drink, hang out and bar hop at the bars on edgewood or downtown.
Visit 2 chainz trap musuem, Georgia aquarium, the zoo, six flags, skyview.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mentor Lucia. She has pulled me out of the ruts that entrepreneurship pulls me in.
