Hi Dr. Tobby “THE KING”, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor I contribute my success & brand to is my commitment to remain consistent & God. My commitment allowed me to continue when things were going great….as well as my most challenging moments. I always kept my PURPOSE in front.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a Celebrity Hairstylist, Educator, Photographer & Production Company owner. My entire life I’ve loved creating using my hands. I’ve never been afraid to take RISKS in creating things that were trendsetting & Unique. My Journey of getting here wasn’t easy. … I had to first REMOVE the untruth that being a Hairstylist & Creator had something to do with being a certain gender. It had ALL to do with my Purpose & calling. A great friend & neighbor (Renita Shealey) introduced me to the World of Cosmetology. I’m forever grateful for her guidance. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned as a Creator has been to follow my Passion & not be afraid to express myself UNRESTRICTED. If I had to sum up my brand & story…. it would simply be – GRACED!!!! God has graced me to execute effectively what I’ve been PURPOSED to do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite places to frequent when the time allows is Shopping. I love fashion & beauty. I would definitely show them some of my favorite spots to find discounted, unique clothing & items. My Favorite restaurant is a simple buffet (Golden Corral)…. only because there’s something on the bar to fit everyone’s desire. I love the ambiance of fellowshipping after dining. Personally, I don’t like visiting a restaurant with a Friend…. eat & leave immediately. 😀 Lastly, I’m a Church guy…. so depending upon if there’s anything of interest going on at a local Church service…. I would definitely love to attend. To sum it up…. simply riding, hanging out & fellowshipping would be a Day with Dr. Tobby.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I contribute my success to the COUNTLESS loyal clients of mine that has supported my journey all during my career. My Mother & Grandmother was my backbone from my childhood to their passing. There was also my 12th grade teacher, which also was my Church Youth Director (Mrs. Barbara Reese) that gave me an opportunity to express myself in UNLIMITED ways through speaking & displaying my gift. My Hairstylist career, I must contribute a GREAT deal to my Cosmetology Instructor (Mrs. Joan Lambeth) whom saw a gift in my 12th grade year …in which she highly recommended me to receive a FULL Scholarship to further my Education in the field of Beauty to a local Beauty College. Lastly, my mentor (Mrs. Norma Williams) trained & cultivated my skills to become what I’ve been called today which is a Celebrity/leading Hairstylist. I also watched & learned a great deal business wise from my former Salon bosses (Rev. Arthur Jackson, Mrs. Lizzie Vines & Mrs. Corinthian Woody) how to operate a Professional,  THRIVING …. Business. Lastly, my Salon assistants… past & present (Khandi Woodyard, Jeanette Jones, Allison Bullard, Felicia Davis-Frazier, Marion Marshall,  Desiria Banks, Lisa Trammell, Katsena Davis, Cathy Bullard, Stephanie Jackson, Jeanette Davis, Renea Powell, Angela Green & Miya Chantelle) were ALL …. personal gifts to help assist in making  my Dream – A Reality…. THANK YOU!!!!
