We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Tamara Greene, M.D. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Tamara, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a parent, the most important thing that I’ve done, and try to continue to do daily, is lead by example. I try to instill the principles of hard work, being healthy, and just being an overall good person into my daughter. In regard to hard work, she often has a front-row seat of seeing me run my practice and taking calls, and she sees me getting dressed for various business and networking meetings. Not only do I encourage her to eat healthy and stay active, but she also sees me eating healthy and witnesses the sweat after my early morning workouts (as she’s not awake when I start). Examples that I’ve tried to show her in regard to being a good person include smiling and saying good morning to people, paying for someone’s groceries or items ahead of us that don’t have the money, thanking law enforcement or military members for their service and paying for their meals, and being honest if someone gave back too much change or missed an item while in a cashier’s line. When a child sees his/her parent illustrating the things that the parent is telling them to do, it helps to further reinforce those principles.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Greene Neurological and Medical Consulting provides neurology care for adults and adolescents aged 12 and over in and around Alpharetta, Georgia. Additionally, telemedicine visits are available to offer a more convenient option for patients. The practice treats a wide range of neurologic conditions, including various headache subtypes, seizures, strokes, and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Additionally, Greene Neurological and Medical Consulting provides comprehensive neurological evaluations to identify early warning signs of dementia and other memory disorders. I am one of only a few neurologists in the area with extensive experience in evaluating and treating personal injury patients. Additionally, I am also one of only a few neurologists in the nation designated as a Qualified MAP Physician through the National Football League (NFL) who evaluates retired players through the NFL Concussion Settlement Program. What sets my practice apart from many other practices is that I take a personalized, integrative approach to care and work closely with each person to build an honest, transparent relationship and empower individuals to take a proactive role in making informed decisions about their health.
After working for various healthcare companies over the years, I decided to open my own practice in October 2023. Having never run a business, I had to educate myself on business licenses, insurances, fees, etc., as well as do the leg work to find the right space in a short time. Not having a large budget to work with, I also handled my own marketing by physically going to offices in the area to personally introduce myself. After so many years of doubting myself and being hesitant to start my own practice, this experience has taught me that as long as you have good intentions and step out on faith, your goals and dreams are achievable far beyond you can imagine.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being that I like to stay active, I would start the morning at Treetop Quest or TopGolf to do something fun and active at the same time. My go-to brunch places are Dantanna’s around Lenox, Toast on Lenox, and Jam and Toast in Suwanee. There are WAY too many dinner options. My favorites include Chops Lobster Bar, Keith Rathbun Steak, and Connors Steak and Seafood in Alpharetta. I like to hang out at fairly chill places. Some of my favorites include Cigar City Club, Red Phone Booth, and Cutter’s Cigars.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my Mini-me, Gabrielle Greene. Thank you for being your authentic self, no matter how brutally honest at times. You are the reason I do what I do.
