We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Sherida Lovelace and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Sherida, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is Vision! I don’t believe in doing “just because,” or following the crowd, because their can be chaos in crowds. I believe in Vision first! Vision is personal, it’s creative and it’s given to us. How we move in developing that beginning seed determines its future success and, establishes a strong foundation early on. When you take time to learn who you are and understand your purpose, its easier to partner your actions with the first factor of success – Vision.
What should our readers know about your business?
I truly love my present journey of growing a Real Estate Business, while balancing work in Ministry and, as a Faith-based Media Personality. I have been working in State Government for decades, however, progressing into owning my own businesses full-time brings such an amazing sense of freedom and, the ability to be carry the vision without outside opinions that may be disconnected from the initial vision intent. We all have those amazing passions and hobbies we dream about, watch on TV, or simply enjoy through the lens of others. But when you sense the season to make your God-given dreams a reality AND move on it, it’s liberating!
What sets me apart is my story. Everyone is writing the pages to their story, daily. Everyone has a different path, maybe even the same goal. Regardless, it is their personal process that can’t be duplicated, only imitated. And they too are set apart! That’s the beauty of diversity and the art of being “set apart” – different.
The reality of the pages to our individual stories can’t be duplicated, maybe just imitated. As for me, my pages are filled with the best days of my life! However, these days share the canvas with challenges, hardship, rejection, misunderstandings, and seasons of pain. Where some may complain, I kept getting back up, not in my own strength, but with tears and all! I kept going. The fight was and is always worth it! I remained determined to stand….and stand again and again! I knew in my heart that if God told me that my life is worth living and that I hadn’t seen all of my best days yet, then the process of me getting back up on my feet was a command, not an extended conversation.
I am most excited about having the opportunity to utilize skills from my professional experience, my educational background, and 30 plus years of ministry. It didn’t go to waste. Grateful! Additionally, the joy of directly experiencing the various facets of residential & commercial real estate is just the icing on the cake!
My journey to get to where I am today comes down to a few words: Faith, Obedience, Humility and Ambition! I have always held a high energy level, living life to the fullest, actively pursuing the desires of my heart. I knew these desires were purpose! My purpose was revealed to me through my Faith, and I wanted to be obedient to carry it out with humility and grace. It’s the adventure of how God moves us from one season to another that gets my adrenaline going – like watching my favorite team during the NFL Season – Go 49ers! Being consistent and utilizing resources that carry similar vision are also great keys.
The challenges that come with this package varies from person to person. For me, my challenge surrounded balancing life – multi-tasking and feeding each goal, all while keeping a positive mind-set, knowing I will eventually be able to fully invest in my ultimate passion.
As a result, I have learned to embrace adversity, and even advice from those already in multi-facet careers – to have conversations, ask questions and be able to find “take-away” nuggets that would best suit my journey. This process is not a one-stop-shop, it is a discipline that should be practiced regularly for the best results of a stable, profitable, and quality set of life and business practices.
If I had to let the world know about my story, it would be that I have no regrets. There are mountain high’s and valley low’s that come with pursuing your passion, your purpose! Those characteristics build you and your brand – but YOU have to be built first! I feel alive and blessed to be in a continual journey of learning, growing and most importantly, serving and helping others.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit me for a weekend, our agenda would definitely be consumed with recommended restaurants across Metro Atlanta during her entire stay. Atlanta is known to not only have great southern cuisine, but we have expanded to have some amazing vegan and international eateries.
As an HBCU graduate, I would take the time to show her the rich culture of our schools and, share some of the success of our amazing Alumni.
Depending on the season, we would locate the best, most interactive and socially fun Sports Grill to watch an NFL or NBA Game. We would probably include a daytime activity of touring the Aquarium, MLK Historical sites, and end with shopping at the closes retail mall outlet!
Atlanta is becoming more and more of a multi-cultural melting pot and a business development hot spot!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Aside from my amazing parents of 56 years, media outlets, church families, my biological siblings and awesome, fun and loving friends – I don’t want to leave anyone out. I believe that many already know who they are!
I remain forever grateful to all of you, for unlimited support, calls, texts, and prayers! To those of you who create no judgement, no pressure, and boundaries – I’m simply grateful. May Blessings return to you 100-fold! Thank you for letting me BE and be ME! xo
