We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Rita Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Rita, what’s new with F1NE-TUNE?
I am excited to share F1NE-TUNE’s newly-launched project, Treasure Hunt. This initiative is focused on helping educators and parents discover strategies that will unlock the potential of the black males in their classrooms and living rooms, respectively. Through Treasure Chats- which are our version of TED Talks- and annual conferences, dynamic black males who have overcome personal and societal obstacles will share their knowledge and experience for the betterment of other black males.

What should our readers know about your business?
F1NE-TUNE offers customized professional development to support the implementation of best practices. We recognize our participants come to the table with a wealth of experience and expertise; therefore, we do not claim to provide training that is new under the sun. Rather, we partner with educators and parents to provide interactive sessions that will F1NE-TUNE their practices, so they can better meet the diverse needs of their students.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I enjoy outdoor concerts at Chastain Park, performances at the Fox Theatre, hikes at Sweetwater Creek, bike rides on the Silver Comet Trail, playtime at Top Golf, breakfast at Another Broken Egg Cafe, lunch at No Mas!, dinner at Nikolai’s Roof and dessert at Cafe Intermezzo.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to Sonya Scott who is both my Senior Executive Officer and sister. This summer, she came on board, and her contributions have already been invaluable. With her by my side, F1NE-TUNE is going to make a substantial impact in the lives of educators and parents.
