We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Neha Khorana and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Neha, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work/life balance has always been a work in progress and it became even more challenging during the pandemic and then after becoming a new mom in 2021. I’m often tempted to see clients outside of my usual business hours, especially when someone has scheduling conflicts, but have to remind myself that boundaries are necessary and helpful! I know that I need to tend to my own mental health in order to be a fully present and effective therapist for my clients, so I ensure that I stop working at a certain time each day so that I can engage in the activities that “fill my cup”.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a Board-Certified Clinical Psychologist in private practice, I work primarily with women of color regarding their relationship struggles, family dynamics, self-esteem, major life transitions, cultural conflicts, etc. As a woman of color myself, I understand the importance of being able to work with someone who may come from a similar cultural background and love that I’m able to provide that for others.

Moreover, I specialize in administering psychological assessments/evaluations for ADHD, personality, mood, and behavior and work closely with production teams on various television shows and documentaries throughout casting and filming. I’m a reality TV junkie and love being able to integrate my personal and professional passions in such a unique way!

I am so proud of the work that I do now, but have never really considered myself an “entrepreneur” until more recently and have learned so much on this journey. My biggest take-away point: don’t let that imposter syndrome stop you from pursuing your dreams; lean into the fear and do it anyway!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my friends come to town, I always take them for lunch at Fox Bros BBQ, walking on the beltline and grabbing a King of Pops, and ending with dinner & drinks at Gypsy Kitchen-that’s literally my ideal Saturday! The rest of the trip would include a visit to the Georgia Aquarium (who doesn’t love a dolphin show?), cupcakes from the Kupcakerie in East Point, a day out on Lake Allatoona, and I wouldn’t let them leave until we’ve had dinner at Blue India in midtown. There’s always so much to do in Atlanta!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mentors deserve the BIGGEST shoutout when it comes to my professional journey! I am so fortunate to have been mentored by brilliant and powerful female thought-leaders who have helped shape me into the Psychologist I am today. I have not only been able to learn from their trajectory, but they also give me the courage to step outside my comfort zone and truly learn more about myself both professionally and personally.
