We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Darrius Geter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Darrius, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When it comes to life and business, you cannot be averse to taking risks. Any risk you take should be calculated. You take a calculated risk after weighing the advantages against the disadvantages to determine what course of action is in your best interest. Great risks have the opportunity to produce great rewards. However, you should never risk more than you are comfortably willing and able to lose.

When it comes to taking risks, I’ve often taken the outlook that I’m betting on myself. Sometimes, I’m confident in my ability, the situation feels right, and I feel the timing is right to produce a great return. But there are times when I’m not as confident in how an opportunity looks, and I’m not as sure of the probability of a favorable outcome. This is where it is essential to calculate the advantages against the disadvantages and determine if I am willing to take a loss in pursuit of a goal or vision or if the risk is worth the reward. Is the possibility of taking a loss worth the risk? I weigh all the variables, making an informed decision, yet betting on myself.

Risk-taking has played an integral part in my professional and personal life. I’ve experienced some wonderful successes along the way, but I’ve also experienced some losses as well. But that’s all a part of the game when it comes to taking risks.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is Impactful Publishing, LLC. I work with authors to help them produce their God-inspired stories, which bring uplifting messages that inspire hope in others. One of the things that sets me apart from others is specializing in working with first-time authors. Many aspiring authors out there do not believe they can bring their stories to market. I help turn their work into a polished professional manuscript and achieve their goal of becoming published authors.

There was a time when I was an aspiring author, submitting my work to various agents and publishing houses. Rather than continue trying to sell my work to others, I educated myself on the publishing industry and started my own business. Instead of selling my work to someone else, I can now publish my work and maintain ownership.

Learning about the publishing industry was not easy, but part of being an entrepreneur is betting on yourself, educating yourself, and developing the capacity necessary to succeed in accomplishing your vision and goals. Part of developing the necessary capacity to succeed was investing in myself to acquire the knowledge and resources essential to learning, building, and developing my business.

My brand is not limited to Impactful Publishing. It also includes Darrius Geter Ministries, Full Impact Christian Church, and The Full Impact Foundation.

Darrius Geter Ministries:

Under Darrius Geter Ministries, I provide spiritual covering and mentorship to other pastors and leaders. I produce spiritually based events to minister to the needs of God’s people.

Darrius Geter Ministries hosts the Violent Faith Conference, which inspires people to aggressively pursue their purpose and destiny by removing the obstacles that stand in their way.

I also conduct one-on-one mentoring sessions called Spiritual Surgery, which are transformative experiences designed to help you overcome the negative thinking and habits that keep you from achieving your goals and dreams.

Full Impact Christian Church:

The mission of Full Impact is for the Word of God to have an impact in every area of a believer’s life. We strive to do this by preaching the Word of God, holding you accountable, and stretching you out of your comfort zone so that you can walk in the fullness of who God called you to be.

The Full Impact Foundation:

The mission of The Full Impact Foundation is to Edify, Educate, and Empower. The purpose of the foundation will be to address the educational, economic, and social issues that hinder an individual and a community’s substantive progress.
While The Full Impact Foundation has many parts, one of our most active areas is working with aspiring entrepreneurs. Through our Entrepreneurial Academy, we help individuals overcome the barriers to starting a business by guiding them on how to take their business ideas from conception to implementation.

The one thing I want the world to know about my business, ministry, and brand is that I strive to be a reflection of God’s glory and lead other people to Him so that they might be empowered and inspired with the wisdom and knowledge necessary to fulfill their God-given purpose.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A lot of people come from out of town to visit Atlanta, but I would be the last person they should ask where to hang out, LOL. With four kids, the days of knowing the “places to be” are long gone. A friend of mine would have to be comfortable visiting routine spots that you could see anywhere. Other than that, the best thing I could suggest would be good conversation on my front porch with a nice cigar as long as the weather cooperates.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I first give all glory to God! Without His love and direction, I wouldn’t be anything. He has truly opened doors, given me opportunities, and placed me in spaces that otherwise would never have been possible. I also give honor to my beautiful wife, Prophetess Dayvener Geter. She has always been a source of motivation and encouragement for me. She has prayed with me and for me and believed in me to accomplish things I otherwise would have given up on. From the moment I met her, she’s always sparked something within me to want to be better.

Of course, I have to thank my mother, Phyllis Geter, who helped me begin the process of writing the story of my life. My mother taught me how to pray and how to “war in the spirit” before I even knew what it meant to do so. She laid the foundation for the values that would serve as the guiding principles of my life. The Words of Affirmation she continuously spoke over my life as a child continue to speak into my life today.

I have to acknowledge my mother-in-law, Clara Farley, for her years of support toward my ministry and entrepreneurial pursuits.

I also have to acknowledge my Spiritual Father, Apostle Dexter Lamar, of G-Hope Nation in Eatonton, Georgia, for taking me under his wing and schooling me in the ways of ministry.

So many other people have played a significant role in helping me get to where I am through their support, encouragement, motivation, advice, and counsel. This is by no means an exhaustive list of those people, but just a few I wanted to recognize:

The Members of Full Impact Christian Church.

Bishop William Holt, Jesus is the Way to Restoration Ministries.

Apostle Jason Owen, Snellville Biblical Deliverance Ministries.

Dr. Latrice Williams, Latrice Williams Ministries & Divine Grace International Ministries.

Dr. Gena Crawford, P.O.W.E.R. Point Christian Ministries.

Apostle Janet Lamar, Queen Esther Mega Networks.
