We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Danielle Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Danielle, what makes you happy? Why?
At this stage of life, my family makes me happy. This has been one of the toughest years of my life, losing my dad. My family has truly helped me to keep going. On days when I struggle to find the strength to get out of bed, my family is right there, supporting and encouraging me. Specifically, my children bring me the greatest sense of happiness; knowing that 4 little eyes are watching my every move motivates me to be better for them. Their little laughs and snuggles make my hardest days easier, and I don’t know where I would be without them.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I recently rebranded my business from just a mental health agency to focusing on mothers. Since I joined the mom club, I’ve realized how it’s impacted my mental health. The amount of information being gatekept or sugarcoated was evident whenever I had conversations with seasoned, new, or expecting moms. I knew I needed to create a space where everyone knew the “real” about being a mom. After the birth of my son, I was always intentional about telling people the ins and outs of my experience, whether it was positive or negative, and people appreciated my honesty. So when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter and now entering the mom of two club, I knew I needed to create the space I envisioned. I love talking about being a mom because it’s one of my best parts! So, building Moms Love Therapy feels natural and easy.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If anyone comes to visit me, they know we will eat GOOD! A weekend with my best friends or family would look like this:
we would start by visiting The Optimist for Oyster Happy Hour! Between the $1 oysters, half-off drinks, and seafood tower, they would be in HEAVEN! Then we would head back to the house to relax. For brunch on Saturday we would go to Buttermilk Biscuit in College Park. Their blueberry lemon biscuit is the BEST! Then we would walk the Beltline from Krog Street to Piedmont Park. For dinner, we would visit the Halidom Eatery off Moreland Ave! I love the French Fry Specialist, but there is literally something for everyone! They also have a great bar, sitting areas, and an open field for the kids to play! On Sunday, we would attend Renaissance Church of Christ for a great church service and then go to Noveau in Jonesboro for brunch before their flight. The shrimp and grits dish here is literally the GOAT!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is dedicated to you, my number one! LOL I would not have a business without the motivation and encouragement of my husband, Brian. I remember allowing fear to deter me from starting my business, and he was right there, like, “Just do it!” Throughout each phase of my business, Brian has been there, advising and helping me stay focused on my goals. His vision for our future truly inspires me, and I am so blessed to have him as my life partner!
