We had the good fortune of connecting with DQTHEGOAT and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DQTHEGOAT, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
For as long as I can remember I’ve always had a passion for music. I remember writing my own songs at the age of 12. I also come from a musical background. My mother’s side of the family were singers and rappers. My father’s side being talented musicians, so I guess you can say music is in my blood. I started to pursue this dream once I realized I had talent and others enjoyed my music.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my passion and message inside of my music. I’m not just making it for myself, I’m using it as a way to help others by showing how to overcome obstacles through my music. I got to where I am today by not giving up and being consistent. It wasn’t easy starting out and as you continue building your brand independently it’s still going to be challenges but they will pay off in the long run. I overcame my challenges by understanding failure i comes before success, and to learn from failed results and try a different approach as well as doing your personal research on how to make it in the music industry. I’ve learned that success doesn’t happen overnight regardless of people going viral, people don’t see the hours you put in behind the scenes, so don’t give up because it’s not happening on your timeframe because usually it doesn’t. I want the world to know that I make music from my heart and real life experiences that many can relate to. I speak about real issues and how I overcame them and that you can too. Music has always been a form of therapy and I create for others to heal.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For starters, Georgia Aquarium or museums may be the main event. Those who are outdoor enthusiasts I would take them straight to the Atlanta BeltLine or our many other parks and a visit to the Atlanta botanical gardens. There are enough shopping options to keep you busy all week such as: Lenox mall, Ponce City Market, Atlantic station and many other sports. Dining is an adventure in its own right. Atlanta has so many great restaurants but my favorite are: Yard House and Maggiano’s Little Italy. In my opinion checking out Stone Mountain park, The Battery, Coca-Cola factory and Downtown Atlanta would make a memorable experience.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Most definitely, I would like to shoutout my family and friends who have always been supportive of my music and that have continued to support me on this journey.
