We had the good fortune of connecting with Doug Sceviour and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Doug, what do you attribute your success to?
For me it is having a true passion for what you are doing. A real passion shows through to customers who then feel the energy and love for what are you doing and know it is authentic. When it comes to building a brand people like to follow a movement and go on the journey with you so not overly worrying about what people think and just being myself also seemed to help a lot.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I actually work full time handling Insurance claims for an Insurance company, however I have such a passion for French Bulldogs and envisioned breeding them in a quality way and having more freedom with my time. I started my Youtube channel so I could show customers how the parents and puppies looked in video because getting the dogs to hold still for photographs was so difficult and the YouTube channel seemed to take off. I think my passion behind the dogs and how we did not hide or over edit anything was refreshing in a world of photo shopped pictures and perfectly edited videos. I just pull out my cell phone and video what we are doing and have never edited one picture or video.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I am a homebody so my vision of fun is throwing the football outside with my kids while over fifteen french bulldogs run around and bug to be pet. A day hanging outside with all of the dogs then an evening sitting around our camp fire and grilling food is what I am into!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family– we started off being different and wanted to show we can breed dogs without having a kennel full of dogs who don’t receive attention. We co own dogs with everyone in our family so all of our breeding dogs also live in a house as a pet in a forever home with a family. Family has also helped me by being in my youtube videos I am always pulling out my phone to take a quick raw video for our Youtube channel.
