We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Sensabaugh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
The perpetual habit of showing up daily is an undeniable factor in my success. When I say every day, I mean every day, even during rest days; I must consistently show up for myself and my goals.

As an entrepreneur, falling in love with the process has proven more beneficial for my mental health than basking in the success of my result, primarily because I have spent more time pursuing my dream than relishing in my end goal’s success.
As you become a seasoned entrepreneur who has experienced glimmers of favorable results, you must create systems that make you efficient and lethal. With these systems, you must learn to execute with precision.

Your ability to execute consistently results from the processes you create with your routine. This process, over time, becomes your secret weapon. But beware, the process isn’t sexy, the process is gritty, and the process is ugly and unfiltered, yet working the process will instill gratitude in the recipient once their goals are met.

Many seasoned entrepreneurs understand that success is something you must work for day in and day out. They understand the need for sacrifices and how one must fight through adversity. Because we are human and naturally grow weary of discipline, work, and commitment, to progress, one must embody the will to consistently push through the desire to quit, daily recommitting to your goals.

Throughout this journey, will you feel fatigued? Yes. Will you feel depleted? Probably. Will you encounter constant uphill battles and setbacks? Absolutely. But to maintain your success, keep showing up and fighting through adversity. That is how you earn the right and privilege to be successful.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am Dominique  Sensabaugh, a global award-winning philanthropist and wife to retired NFL Defensive Back Coty Sensabaugh. I am a devoted mother to four beautiful children, and my role as a wife and mother drives my life purpose.  I am a woman on a mission committed to uplifting my community and showing that motherhood, community service, and entrepreneurship can be sexy.

As the Chief Curator & Lead Strategist of the Dominique Sensabaugh Lifestyle Brand DSLB, I tell profound stories through my platform entitled INSPIRED, a digital media platform & exquisite dinner series, highlighting beautiful concepts and unique products and featuring uplifting entrepreneurs from the lens of the modern mother.

One of the facets of my brand is my gift of curating elegant yet fulfilling events.

The DSLB Inspired Dinner Series is my way of uniting powerful dynamic women in collaboration to yield growth.
The phrase “a seat at the table” always intrigued me. Especially as a minority woman, full of ambition and drive, with a passion for serving communities and empowering other women in entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and motherhood. I understand that “the table” is a metaphorical representation of the different sectors of society-business, finance, philanthropy, tech, and government,  and that the illustrious “seat” at these respective tables are the powers players that hold the relationships, connections, and associations to make decisions in these respective fields. Women are often excluded from these tables due to societal ills.

To solve some of the world’s most pressing issues like access to equal opportunity, sexism, racism, gender inequality, glass ceilings, and many of the other conundrums society impresses upon us, we have to continue working together, advocating for each other, and taking our rightful place at these tables.
I operate from a space of abundance; I decided to create my own perfectly adorned table featuring a scrumptious meal prepared by a renowned chef and accompanied by delicious craft cocktails to benefit the intriguing women who are movers and shakers in their fields of interest.

Although I love dressing up, slaying, and eating fantastic food over delicious cocktails, the DSLB Inspired Dinner Series is about feeding your soul, dreams, and ambition. We are enjoying elegance yet inspiring fellow queens to tap into the power of uniting as women. It’s about coming together and genuinely reaching while we climb and transparently show our most authentic selves to mentor each other’s growth. Women need each other! We require that positive energy and uplifting vibes that arouse when we unite.

Nothing is more fulfilling than encouraging and feeding off women thriving in their perspective era. As women, we must clap for other women who are killing the game and making their dreams come to fruition. We must ENCOURAGE them and UPLIFT them because THEY DESERVE IT. As you reach your goals and doors of opportunity start to swing open for you, those same women will be right in your corner, cheering you on. This is what it means to be #DSLBinspired
The DSLB Inspired Dinner Series had to pause post the Covid 19, but now that we are back outside, we have resumed the elegance in full force in cities like Charlotte, Houston, Miami & Nashville.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For those unfamiliar with this southern oasis, I introduce you to Charlotte, North Carolina, affectionately known as the Queen City.

Charlotte represents both adventure and serenity. A hidden gem, the QC yields the perfect balance for a young couple with kids, who enjoy the ebbs and flows of parenting while indulging in sexy moments.

With beautiful skyline views throughout Uptown (a term affectionately used by natives to describe downtown because it is the highest elevation point in the city), exquisite food with hometown vibes throughout the restaurants of Southend, artistic expressions found within the murals of NODA, or enjoy fresh air in Dillworth’s Freedom Park.

Charlotte is a city of duality. A place where my spouse and I can watch a Hornets basketball game yet still make it home by bedtime to read stories to our babies.

A city where after church and before Sunday dinner, we can cheese-like Plies with new teeth, in a boat on Lake Norman.

A city where we quickly drive down I-85 to Clemson, South Carolina, to watch the Clemson Tigers excel in the college football world and still make it home for a celebratory glass of wine or cold brew in Plaza Midwood.

Charlotte is the true definition of a diverse city with phenomenal southern charm, steadily changing; it is rated as one of the top five fastest-growing cities in the country. With its growing economy and reasonable cost of living, – people from all cultures and backgrounds are migrating here in drones.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My greatest inspiration is my family. My husband and four children motivate me to level up. With four babies under five years old, these last few years have sometimes felt like a blur. Some days it blows my mind at how much energy, strength, and love I have to parent four tiny humans successfully. On other days I pray to God for mercy as I cry in the shower wanting to dump my head in tequila from all the responsibilities and demands of multiple kids.

Despite the growing pains of birthing and raising so many children in a short time, this journey has yielded an abundance of pure love and loud laughter. My husband and I have grown individually and collectively in insurmountable ways. I remind him daily, that there is no one in the world I would rather embark on this journey with.

As I navigate the highs and lows of parenting, I feel grateful, and my gratitude extends from the grace I display toward myself and genuinely loving life through all of its transitions. My life has been nothing short of a constant evolution that extends back to evolving as a wife during my husband’s career in the NFL, my winding road as an entrepreneur and creator in building my brand, and now, as I navigate my journey in the depths of motherhood. I am no stranger to adaptation, and I have finally learned to embrace the ebbs and flows that mold me into a dynamic wife, mother, leader, and creative.
