We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Poznyak and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Why I started my business stemmed from one major skin care problem that I had. Not being able to find skin care products that could help soothe my eczema. Lotions would just absorb into my skin so quickly it didn’t even look like I had put anything on. As I got the older it only got worse. The constant itch and the constant having to reapply lotion, was getting very tiring. I was tired of wasting money on products that were pretty much useless and ineffective.

What should our readers know about your business?
Your Beauty by Dominique LLC., is one of my proudest accomplishments to date. I’m most proud of the fact that I stepped out on faith and started this business. Everything around me made me feel as though I wasn’t good enough to start my own business. Many times I would think to myself: there are plenty of other skin care businesses out there, why would someone buy from my business, what if I fail? Stepping out on faith allowed me to push past the doubt and focus on the most important aspect of my company. Helping others take care of their skin. What sets me apart from other businesses is my love and respect for others. When you love and respect someone you want the best for that person, and you want to help them in any way that you can. I have many customers who reach out to me on a personal level. Many of them are astonished when I tell them to contact me about anything and provide them with my personal number/email. I love hearing how women, especially black women, are starting to feel comfortable in their skin again. Being in a society that has us believing that, if you don’t look like someone in a magazine, then you are not beautiful enough. I know from personal experience, what it is like to be self conscious about my skin. Especially dealing with eczema and the scars it can leave. When a customer tells me about their experience with my products, it activates a special part in my heart. Whether it’s my body butter keeping their skin moisturized throughout the day and they can take off their jacket without worrying about being “ashy”. Or, being able to wear a tank top and not having to hide their chest because the scars on their chest were getting better due to them using our Turmeric and Honey Sugar Scrub. Every customer feedback lets me know that, i’m doing what God has called me to do. Through out this whole journey of starting Your Beauty by Dominique LLC., I have learned the importance of taking things into your own hands and not taking “NO” for an answer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people in my life that deserve a shout out, that I couldn’t possibly name them all. The most important person that I give all thanks to. Is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without him nothing that I envisioned would have ever been possible. I do want to give a special shout out to Breana with New2YouMarketing. God brought her into my life at the perfect moment. She gives small black business’s an opportunity to promote our business, and connect with potential customers through her pop up shops. She is a force to be reckoned with and an amazing asset to any business owner. Thank you Bre!
