We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominic Goodie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominic, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
The end goal of my career is ultimately to be a working director in the film industry. To have my films played in theaters around the world. With that level of success, I would be able to give back to other filmmakers. Giving them a chance to be seen and heard. By providing an outlet for individuals to showcase their work. Not like in festivals but in front of millions of audience members. I want to be able to have an idea and bring that idea to everyone.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a filmmaker it’s my job to bring the stories we write to life. I would say what sets me apart from others in my field, is my ability to create cinematic imagery. Along with my ability to bring the most out of my actors regardless of their experience. I’m most proud of completing my first full length feature film. A film called Witnessed, I wore many hats on this production besides being director and writer . It was a long and intense process but I was able to finish it. I would say that getting to the level that I’m at now wasn’t too difficult. It was more so learning from my mistakes and trying new things that I wasn’t always comfortable with. I found that when I’m faced with a challenge I go into a research mentally. I will search and see what others have done in my situation. The more I filmed the better I got. I would like people to know about my brand that we strive to develop and deliver quality films that will entertain the audience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friend to the amazing Atlantic station for great food. Then I’d show them the exciting experience of a 4DX movie in the Regal cinema. I would show the the beautiful Atlanta botanical garden and huge Ferris wheel downtown.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
On my journey I’ve had to be self reliant, but my grandmother has always been there to support me. From the moment I started film school she has always been behind my decision to go into the entertainment industry. Along with her I had my classmates and colleagues support. My wife, Taylor Hamilton is behind me all the way. She has a degree in Marketing so she takes a lot of the business side of the production and works with me. As far as mentors go, I haven’t had any mentors close to me. I do follow some well know Directors for inspiration and guidance. Filmmakers like Richard Donner best know for the Lethal Weapon film series. Those movies inspired me to become a filmmaker. Also Zack Snyder who’s artistic style in the DC films helped me to shape my gritty crime looks to my films. So with out these people in my life I don’t think my career in film would be the same or even exist.
