We had the good fortune of connecting with DNK and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DNK, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Since a young age I’ve always had a deep connection with music. As I got older however the music I began to hear mainstream on a daily basis changed I’m ways that I didn’t necessarily like. So I decided to make music for myself.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Born in east metro Atlanta, I grew up different than most in the aspects that he saw the world through different lenses from suburbia to the inner city lifestyle. Through my music I tell the stories of obstacles I have overcome on this journey to where I am currently. Being diagnosed with an illness like bipolar can be detrimental for most but not for Me. Ive used it as the motivational force to progress and prosper in all things. I make music for almost any genre and use unique melodies to convey concepts that many can relate too.
Being bipolar you experience emotions at the most extreme ends of each spectrum. Whether it’s extreme depression and sadness or jolts of happiness and joy. It took a long time but I learned how to channel those emotions into an energy that people can feel when they listen to my music
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family is a big inspiration for what I do. They have supported me and been by my side through the ups and downs of life and for that I’m forever thankful.
