Hi D’kayhlah, what inspires you?
I’m inspired by being totally independent and truly never having to depend on anyone for my success. I work hard to provide for myself, because to be completely transparent I have no choice. I don’t have anyone to fall back on if things go left, or if I fail at my dreams. I’m responsible for my own happiness, and I’m also responsible for my own success. I try to keep that in mind in everything that I do, small or big because everything you do in life can affect you in someway. That’s what inspires me to keep going and being the best ME possible everyday and to continue striving for my success.

What should our readers know about your business?
My brand is Kay’s Kloset Atl , and I wish I could say I have a fairytale story behind why I created my business. However it’s just as simple as I knew I wanted more out of life for myself. I was tired of working 9-5s, and I wanted to be my own boss and make my own money whenever I needed to. I enjoy my profession because I truly love what I do, I love making other women feel beautiful . An outfit can literally make us feel so pretty inside and out. When you are out, your outfit gets checked before your face sometimes. It’s important for us to look good even when we don’t feel like it. I had to learn several lessons along the way, running a business is not always peaches and cream . It’s blood, stress, tears that goes into running a successful business. Some days you may make 1,000 other days you may make 0 , but you have to continue going and striving and branding yourself. Never give up, the support will come! I’ remember times I would spend 400/500 on inventory and would never sell anything and then those times I would spend 600 on inventory and sell out within minutes. I just remain humble either way, because it’s a flexible game. I also always tell myself and other upcoming business owners is STRANGERS make you rich, not friends so don’t stress yourself out by the people in your life you feel need to support but don’t, they aren’t obligated .. it would be nice yes, but They don’t have to. Keep it pushing , they will support eventually. What sets me apart from others is I’m not in this business for the money, I’ve given away several free items to girls all over just to put a smile on their face, my true end goal is to make it to the top by being genuine, myself, and never changing! Kay’s Kloset will be the next black luxury brand, and if I continue to manifest that I know it will come true.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A Night In the city would me would be epic because I’m the party lol. I would take my friend to Toast on Lenox for brunch the best brunch place in the city in my opinion, and then we’d probably swing by Edgewood to grab drinks and bar hop. Atlanta has several fun places, maybe top golf it’s always a vibe there and it’s very inexpensive, Atlantic station is a good vibe because you can shop, take pictures, walk, see the scenery, the best bowling place I would say is Midtown Bowling it’s a grown vibe but also very fun to relax with my friends.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a major shout out to my mother. Growing up she definitely inspired me to go after everything that I want and never stop until I get there. Seeing her hustle, and drive for my siblings and me being a single mother at that really just turned up the beast up in me. I never saw my mom down, sad, or worried I just always saw her working hard with a smile on her face everyday. She motivates me to keep going, and to know Even when things get ugly or bad , keep a genuine heart , never change and continue chasing your dreams!
