We had the good fortune of connecting with Dina Cella and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My motivation for starting this business was to offer solace to those navigating life’s toughest moments and deepest secrets. As an ICU nurse during COVID, I struggled with depression, anxiety, and the uncertainty of life. It was in my moments of solitude in the shower, along with my time with God, that I found a way to hold it all together while also letting go. Bath time became my sanctuary, and I wanted to create a refuge like that for others.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
D’Cella Beauty is an emerging bath care line crafted for those managing the everyday pressures of adult life. As someone who understands the strains of a busy routine, I’ve discovered that dedicating time each day to self-care has greatly alleviated both physical and mental stress.

While everyone’s beliefs may differ, we at D’Cella Beauty hold that having Christ as the foundation of everything is essential. As a Christian-based brand, we are committed to nurturing the whole person, focusing on the mind, body, and soul.

I’m thrilled to offer a product that will become a cherished part of people’s daily self-care routines. I’m eager for consumers to try and enjoy our bath care line, experiencing the genuine soul-cleansing benefits it provides. I’m also incredibly proud of taking a leap of faith in joining the beauty industry.

Starting a business has been more challenging than I anticipated. Social media can create the misconception that the transition is smooth and effortless, but the reality is quite different. From setting up an LLC and securing domains to finding vendors and refining product details, the process is tedious and often frustrating. You may find yourself taking one step forward and then feeling like you’re moving a hundred steps back. It’s crucial to stay level-headed, encourage yourself to persist, and recognize that it’s okay to have setbacks and need breaks. One thing I wish more entrepreneurs would discuss is that it’s perfectly acceptable to keep a 9-5 job while working on your business. Building a business takes time, patience, commitment, and a constant reminder of why you started when you feel like giving up.

I want the world to know that our bath care line was created with deep prayer and genuine care. We’re not driven by profit but by a sincere commitment to the well-being of our customers. Although our story is still unfolding, every step of our journey is marked by hard work, integrity, and love.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Although I’m a bit of a homebody, I do enjoy stepping out occasionally. If my friends were to visit, I’d definitely recommend a few key spots. We’d start with the aquarium, catch a game at Braves Stadium, and explore Martin Luther King Jr.’s home for a historical touch.

For some great food and fun, nothing beats laughter over a meal. Given my Caribbean background, Spice House Buckhead is a must-visit—the island seafood dip and Port-au-Prince red snapper are absolutely mouthwatering. For Sunday brunch, Zanzi Bar Cuisine and Lounge offers fantastic Afro-Caribbean dishes and a vibrant atmosphere. Yao Atlanta is perfect for Asian fusion, especially on Friday and Saturday nights with live R&B.

We’d also have a picnic at Piedmont Park, visit Stone Mountain, and do some shopping at Lenox Mall or Phipps Plaza. To unwind, we’d relax our muscles with a massage at Massage Infinity.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I want to thank God for His unwavering support and faithfulness, even when I fall short. I’m incredibly grateful to my parents for their sacrifices as immigrants, providing me with the best opportunities possible. A big shout-out to my family and friends for their constant support, and a heartfelt thank you to the “Shoutout Atlanta” team, especially Shelly Tuscano, for reaching out.
