Meet Dicola Berry | Vintage Maven

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dicola Berry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dicola, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
The end goal behind my first entrepreneurial endeavors are to become a leading supplier for folks to find quality vintage goods. For my retail business, my end goal is to have a brick n mortar space where I create a safe and inspiring environment. With my wholesale business, my end goal is to attain a warehouse space to hold and supply amazing vintage goods for vintage sellers! By the end of my career, I want to be moving onto another career phase. I do not want to end my career as an entrepreneur, but rather continue scaling and creating more.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started two businesses, Sincere Vintage Finds and Sincere Vintage Wholesale, with the sole purpose of becoming a leading supplier of vintage goods. My retail business, Sincere Vintage Finds, is focused on providing stylish vintage options for plus size customers. As a plus size person I have experienced the lack of options when it comes to shopping. Whether its in a traditional or secondhand store. The apparel industry has ignored plus size peoples’ interest in fashion and trends for so long. When I started shopping for myself in thrift stores, I noticed how hard it was to not only find a store that carried my size, but also had cool vintage pieces. People love to be a part and share in something together. Seeing the uptick of vintage clothes and styles becoming a trend, I knew yet again plus size people were going to feel left out and ignored. I created my retail business as a safe space for plus size shoppers to not only have the convenience of online shopping, but feel that true appreciation through exclusivity. My wholesale business, Sincere Vintage Wholesale, was created for B2C vintage sellers like myself. I know first hand what sacrifices and time you spend when you are out sourcing for vintage inventory. A lot of vintage sellers have this business as a side hustle, so fitting in the time to shop at thrift stores, estate sales, etc. is exhausting. It can lead to you not having the time to focus on other tasks that actually help you grow your business. I created this wholesale business as a way for vintage sellers to buy back their time. To be open to a new way of running your business, and delegating as a boss should! Running two businesses as a working mom has created learning lessons along the way. I’ve learned how to be intentional with my time. Creating time blocks, scheduling, planning ahead and delegating has been time savers for me.
I want the world to know that everyone has a divine purpose in this life. I never believed selling vintage clothes could have a real purpose behind it, besides being an environmental win. But I realized my true purpose behind creating my vintage businesses were to inspire those on unusual paths and to educate.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Love this question! I am not originally from Georgia, but I have lived here for about 8 years now. My entire time living here, I’ve resided in Gwinnett county, which is about 20 mins north of Atlanta. When I have a friend visit I want them to explore the areas that directly inspire me and bring joy to my everyday life. So I would more than likely show them a good time mostly in Gwinnett county!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The encouragement and support that I receive from my husband, Jason, is beautiful. He has never judged or poked holes in any of my ideas. I am constantly given amazing feedback and actual admiration. He gives me ideas and new ways of thinking, especially when I cannot see past my own thoughts. Being able to bounce off ideas with him is so refreshing, because he actually listens. Not only does he support my passion, but he also shares the same love of vintage goods. It makes everything more special because he also shares and sees my vision for our future. We are not in competition or unsupportive, and for that I believe we both will succeed. I could not ask for a better partner in life.
