We had the good fortune of connecting with Dia’Monte Oliver and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dia’Monte, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I grew up drawing, experimenting in the kitchen, creating paper objects etc. I definitely don’t think this career is something I chose but was born to do. It’s literally my gift. Baking has always been something I loved from the beginning. In the midst of creating objects and drawing, the tv was always on with either, Cake Boss or Ace of Cakes playing in the background. I think watching them and seeing how creative they got with cake, drew me in. I just knew I could turn one of the paper objects into a cake chile lol. Now that I’m an actual cake artist there’s no doubt in my mind that this isn’t my passion. My love for creating & designing cakes is beyond everything. Listen, having a blank cake in front of you and turning it into a MASTERPIECE…..You just can’t deny that this creative career wasn’t made for me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Monte’s Sweet Krunch specializes in custom cakes & gourmet treats. Everything we offer is something you won’t be able to get anywhere else. Yes you can find and everybody sells cookies, cupcakes, cakes etc. But was it made with genuine love? Was quality put into it or was it solely made based on how many quantities they could sell? Can you smell the hard work that was put into the product? Yup, didn’t think so. Many people don’t have a passion for what they do and that’s what sets me apart from them. Because this is my passion, I breathe this. The way more and more people are noticing my brand and actually want to support me, is why I go so hard. I’m in the position I’m in today because of prayer and how I conduct myself as a businessman. If you don’t have a passion for what you do, if you don’t conduct business the right way, if people don’t support you because they see right through you. Then maybe business isn’t for you. I’ve learned you gotta be solid at what you do, you can’t half a** it. Business period isn’t easy, your gonna go through many many things. Just pray and stand on everything you believe in, that’s how I overcome every challenge. And what I want the world to know about Monte’s Sweet Krunch is, when you see our hard work in lights….Just know we earned it!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to first thank God because if it wasn’t for him keeping me here and allowing me to tell my testimony, none of this would even be possible. My mother who has been my rock, through it ALL. The support system that I have now is beyond this world, there’s so many people I could thank who have helped me get to where I am today. I would like to shoutout my cake sisters in NYC, Aniya aka my twin (creative cake bar) and Jelezce aka my Jelly boo (Purple Fizz Sweets). Jeromie (iamkakeking), who has been nothing but supportive of me since I’ve started back making cakes. Last but certainly not least, GiGi (Sweet Tooth by GiGi), our relationship started off as me just being her brand ambassador. To now, we are literally on the phone everyday, for hours conversing about everything chile lol. The genuine love & support we show each other, is something I’ve always wanted from another person in this industry. I can’t put into words how much all these people mean to me, I truly appreciate them all.
