We had the good fortune of connecting with Diamond Tisdale and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diamond, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
I’m from Greensboro, North Carolina some people call it a college town but it isn’t very big like most big cities we think of. My hardest decision was either to stay where I felt most comfortable and be ok with working outside of my passion or move away to a bigger city and have the life I envision for myself that I always talked about and put on vision boards. Here I am 7yrs later living with no regrets on the decision I made and I’ve had some of the most memorable opportunities here.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I always felt what sets me apart from other artists in the beauty industry has been that I’m a new school artist with old school tendencies. I hear a lot of my new clients say that when they get their lashes done it’s too thick. They feel like they’re gonna fly away. With me it’s more natural and makes sense for the occassion. Same with makeup while I can do filtered looks a lot of people don’t like it, so I am able to implement both rather than ask for what the client wants and disregard their requests. I believe being able to treat yourself to luxury beauty services, it needs to come with the luxury standards. When you get any service with me it’s going to include a massage, a lip scrub, a mini facial, and I believe that’s what has gotten me where I am today is my ability to understand client experience is everything and professionalism.
It’s not easy being in my shoes because I have to show up and be the best version of myself while making sure I hold my business to its luxury standard. I’m a first time mom with an infant so there are days where I don’t get any sleep and I have to find energy to do my hair, makeup, and look like what I’m selling. Literally leaving my negatives at the door so that I can make my clients day worth while.
I have learned many lessons one being, when you ask for something big know you’re going to work hard for it so that when you get it, that thing you asked for doesn’t go unappreciated and you know how to take care of it. There have been many times I wanted to throw the towel in and go into a new direction but I didn’t because I understand great things come with great sacrifices. Also Princess Tiana said ” the only way to get what you want in this world is through hard work”. Also discuss your goals with people that are where you are or above where you are.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friend to Helen Ga for a day because it’s so unique and reminds me of village in a Disney movie.
Places in Atlanta would be:

A rooftop for brunch
The high museum especially if it’s First Fridays
Drive in movie theater because it’s so vintage
The Battery
A Braves game
Atlantic Station during the holidays
A crafty diy place like making candles, or some type of skin care
Paint and Sip!
Speakeasy place
