We had the good fortune of connecting with Diahann Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diahann, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As a first generation college student, it was major for me to go off and conquer the world and I did just that. However In 2014 after working for a fortune 500 company for 12 years climbing the corporate ladder pretty fast, I had a very rude awakening. In the year I would have possible become one of the youngest VP within the company I lost my job.

I had put so much into my career that I hadn’t had time to focus on much else. My career loss was the beginning of a Divine journey of discovery, I took some time to get my mind away from myself… I began volunteering at a small school located inside a church..cooking lunch for them, I remember something I was told when I was younger… take care of Gods house and he will Surely take care of yours… soon after, my son and I watched a movie called the chef… where a executive chef and his son when on a cross country trip building a brand for a food truck… my son said mom why don’t we run a food truck (but of course a great idea but it had to have a meaning for me to put my all into it) that summer my son and I volunteered at an event at a food truck park in Atlanta. They were bringing in people who had been on the streets to eat for the day and we met a dope organization called love beyond walls giving hair cuts and began following them on Instagram. I then connected to the organization and Terrance gave me my first catering event., so on the path to obtaining the truck I needed capital.. So God leads me to start a business… Divine Personal Chef Svs…. that fall I made the business legal to start building capital for this food truck that would have a social impact theme, servicing the Atlanta area.. That business turned into Shes Divine Cuisines. a multifaceted meal preparation company that provides restaurant quality meal service in several ways.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Shes Divine Cuisine Atlanta and Muskegon Michigan… after close to 10
Years I have two locations in two states… my sister Chef Nique oversees the one in Michigan, since 2014 I have been focusing on the family sector of being a personal chef. Providing a multitude of services from custom meal deliveries (Divine Deliveries)to intimate dinner gatherings (The Divine Chef Experience) and weddings . I am able to give families their quality time back at dinner while using my heart of servitude.

It’s was cars from easy… It took grit, focus, and building a brand that even during the pandemic, clients trusted that I was going to ensure they received the highest quality meals, safely delivered to their homes. It’s building lasting relationships and being consistent in your values and who you are.. not only as a business but your principles and standards as a person.

What sets me apart is simple…

It’s truly all Divine. I say that because my name means Divine. The meaning “from God” excellent etc. so in all thing I do, I do them for God. It’s not easy at all… creating a culinary event… is so much more that good… so I truly believe that we give of ourselves when we cook… energy transferred.. so if on earth I’m the representative of who he is… some people only see God through their relationships… so through my food, my interactions I pray that people see good, see faith, see a real person just trying to be the best version of a Christian through my culinary journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t go to many restaurants but I would try to find the hidden gems, the ones that are deep rooted in family. I’ve heard of a few Jamaican restaurants I want to try, I would probably go to a few food halls and have my bestie experience that also. I myself have not got to truly experience ATL. So 2024 that’s a goal! Work will always be here but on this entrepreneurial journey you have to learn to love what you do and LIvE also.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This shout out is to all my clients and friends who have supported me through a pandemic, short staff, and no staff… this one is also for my number one supporter my son. He has been on this journey with me since he was 6.. he is now 15.. and I promised him the best version of myself. I strive daily and pray that I’m giving that to him. It’s hard to build and business and be a single mom. But that’s my assignment and with God I’m doing my very best to do MY VERY BEST 🧡
