We had the good fortune of connecting with Aqualia Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aqualia, what do you want your legacy to be?
I’m building a legacy in hopes that people will remember me and connect who I am to how I fought and advocated for displaced people. Helping them find temporary to permanent shelter and employment.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I currently work with different organizations, providing and maintaining a positive image. Being an ambassador, I have obtained strong interpersonal skills along with solid social media presence. I truly love being there for each organization. I am optimistic about my future and utilizing my talent with previous and new people.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m still learning Atlanta, but I would say come and learn about Douglasville, Georgia. Blue Arts Bistro in Douglasville are some of my favorite places . Blue Arts Bistro is a place where artists can come and explore their artistic side of acting and drama. It is the only place you can go once a month on Thursdays to enhance your acting with A1 celebrities. Now, for Brooklyn, you must go to Brownsville, which is where I am from. On Rockaway and Livonia, you get the best slice of pizza of your life! I’m not even kidding. Then, head to Brooklyn Bridge Park for rollerskating, basketball tournaments, and table tennis, for a great time.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This was hard for me because there are so many people that are in my life I want to shout out. I had a blessed upbringing, from being raised in the NYC group home system to moving to Atlanta and having my own home. I would not take that experience away from my journey for nothing.
First is God. God, I thank you for everything you are doing in my life, for opening and closing doors in my life. GOD, thank you for the opportunity to be acknowledged in Shout Out. God , continue to cover and watch over me daily and my family.
To my mother, Mary KIRKSEY, you never gave up on me, even when I was a wreckeless individual growing up .
You allowed me to teach kids in our apartment. As much as you disliked it, you realized it was my gift, and said make sure you teach them better; and I have been.
You prayed for me as you do now and I am forever grateful. I love you, Mommy, and I don’t say that enough.
To my mommy in love, Pamela Gooden, thank you for raising me as your own and providing me guidance and Spanish lessons.

My family has been there for me when I was not there for myself. They have been encouraging and I am beyond grateful. Sometimes I forget how blessed I am.
I will keep on providing my time to various organizations. If you know me, if I say my Toyota is parked , that means I am there.
My word are all I have.
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I am enough as I am because God made only one ME! One me is enough!
