Meet Dezaray Hood | Bridal Fashion Designer & Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dezaray Hood and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dezaray, why did you pursue a creative career?
For me, it was a no-brainer. I’ve always been creative—naturally smart, but my heart was drawn to the arts, especially fashion. There’s something so powerful about using clothing as a language. Fashion lets you express emotion, culture, and identity without ever saying a word. It connects people on a deeper level, in a way that’s hard to describe but easy to feel.
I also believe our God is the ultimate creative, and I see my desire to create as a reflection of Him. It’s in my nature to build beauty, tell stories through fabric, and give shape to vision.
Fashion gives you a type of freedom you don’t always find in traditional workspaces. You get to explore who you are, challenge the norm, and evolve without limits. I love that we can pour intention into every stitch, create pieces that mean something, and push boundaries while still making people feel seen, strong, and beautiful. To me, that’s not just fashion—it’s ministry, it’s movement, and it’s magic.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m the founder and designer behind Love Story Bridal, a brand that blends modern minimalism with the charm of vintage bridal design. What sets Love Story apart is how it honors the roots of bridal fashion—where craftsmanship and storytelling mattered deeply—while still feeling fresh and current. It’s rooted in emotion and elegance. We love drama, but it’s all in the silhouette, not the sparkle. There’s intention in every seam, every drape, every shape.
My journey here has been anything but easy. I started during the pandemic after quitting my job, with nothing but my faith and a passion for design, or as a Bratz fan would say, I passion for fashion LOL. I began by taking on private clients, saying yes to fashion shows, and just getting my name out there however I could. There were so many moments I felt like giving up—seasons where clients were slow, or I doubted the quality of my own work. But my love for fashion and my belief that this is what God called me to do always pulled me through.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that love for the craft is essential, but it’s not enough on its own. You’ve got to master it. You have to be excellent, stay consistent, and give your gift the discipline it deserves. Things don’t happen overnight—but that doesn’t mean they’re not happening.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is simple: Love stories are some of the greatest stories ever told. And brides deserve to see their stories reflected in what they wear. On their wedding day, they should feel seen—fully. Not just beautiful, but understood. I want every piece I create to speak to who they are and who they’re becoming. Because this moment isn’t just about a wedding—it’s about a marriage. And I believe in creating for the kind of love that lasts.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m still pretty new to Atlanta, but one thing about this city—there’s always something happening! So I’d definitely start by checking out what events or pop-ups are going on that week. Atlanta stays busy, whether it’s art shows, live music, food festivals, or just something random and fun in the park.
We’d definitely have to eat good—Atlanta Fish House & Grill is a must, especially if you love seafood. For brunch, I’d want to try somewhere cute and vibey—maybe Toast on Lenox or Breakfast Bros. One lowkey gem I’m obsessed with is Hapeville Pizza—they have a lemon pepper chicken pizza that’s so fire. It sounds like a lot , but it works.
We’d probably hit a mall for some shopping—maybe Lenox or Phipps—and then just explore. Maybe find a rooftop bar one night for drinks and a view or even go play games at Activate. I’d also love to take my friend to a Black-owned art gallery or boutique—there’s so much culture here, and it’s inspiring to see so many creatives thriving.
Honestly, my itinerary would be a mix of good food, cute fits, and meaningful moments. Nothing too structured—just discovering the city one vibe at a time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I want to recognize my husband. He’s my biggest supporter, my loudest cheerleader, and the most consistent person in my corner. He’s my sounding board and constantly reminds me of who I am when I forget. His belief in my talent and vision keeps me grounded and going.
I also want to give a special shoutout to Ms. Monica. She played a pivotal role in reigniting my passion for fashion during a time when I was doubting myself. It’s funny how God sends the right people at the right time to pour into you—and I’ll never forget the impact she’s had on me.
Lastly, I’m beyond grateful for my friends and family. Their love, support, and constant hype mean everything. Whether it’s showing up, sharing my work, or simply believing in me—having that kind of community makes all the difference.
