We had the good fortune of connecting with Devyn Bryant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Devyn, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Balancing work and life has definitely evolved for me over the years. When I first started out, it was all about the hustle—long hours in the kitchen, late nights perfecting recipes, and weekends spent catering events. But as a wife and mother, I’ve learned that balance isn’t just about dividing time evenly between work and family; it’s about being fully present in whatever I’m doing.

My family is my priority, so I’ve become more intentional about setting boundaries. I carve out time for my husband and children, ensuring that work doesn’t overshadow the moments that matter most. At the same time, I’ve realized the importance of prioritizing myself. Self-care is crucial—whether it’s taking time for a quiet morning walk, indulging in a good book, or simply enjoying a cup of tea without distractions.

Spiritual growth has also become a significant part of maintaining balance. I’ve found that grounding myself spiritually helps me stay centered, especially when life gets hectic. It’s my way of recharging and finding peace amidst the chaos.

Lastly, friendships are vital. It’s easy to get caught up in work and family, but I make a point to nurture my friendships. Whether it’s a quick catch-up call or a lunch date, these connections remind me of the importance of community and support.

So, my approach to balance is more holistic now—honoring my roles as a wife, mother, business owner, and individual. It’s about embracing each aspect of my life with intention and grace, knowing that balance isn’t static; it’s something I continually work towards.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business, Dev’s Cakes & Bakes, is all about creating custom desserts that not only taste amazing but also make lasting memories. What sets us apart is our attention to detail and the personalized experience we offer each client. I’m most proud of how we’ve grown from a small operation to serving high-profile events, all while maintaining that personal touch.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. There were challenges, like two failed businesses before this one, and many late nights perfecting recipes. But each setback taught me resilience and the importance of staying true to my vision. One key lesson I’ve learned is to embrace failures as learning opportunities—they’ve been crucial to my growth.

What I want the world to know about my brand is that it’s built on passion, persistence, and a deep love for what I do. Every cake, every dessert, is made with care and a commitment to excellence. My story is one of perseverance, and I’m excited for what’s next.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d keep it relaxed but packed with some of my favorite spots. We’d start with a trip to the Mall of Georgia—shopping, people-watching, and maybe catch a good movie. For food, we’d definitely hit up Pita for some amazing Mediterranean flavors. Ponce City Market is a must as well as Atlantic Station for a mix of unique shops, delicious eats, and a great rooftop view. A visit to the Georgia Aquarium would be next on the list; it’s always an incredible experience. And of course, we’d have to stop by Cinnaholic for the most amazing cinnamon rolls you’ll ever taste. It’d be a fun, chill week exploring some of my favorites

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to give a shoutout to my husband and our two daughters. They are the backbone of everything I do. My husband has been my rock, supporting me through every late night and early morning, always encouraging me to chase my dreams. And my daughters—they inspire me every day. They remind me why I started this journey in the first place and keep me grounded in what truly matters. They deserve so much credit and recognition in my story.

I also want to give a huge shoutout to my customers who have supported me from day one, even when my cakes didn’t look so great! Their loyalty and belief in me, even in the early stages, have been invaluable. They’ve grown with me, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without their continued support.
