We had the good fortune of connecting with DeVone Stanfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DeVone, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
When I was a child, I watched my mom navigate between 3 jobs supporting our home, and my Grandmother, a high school graduate, become one of the major labor leaders in my city and beyond. One thing they had in common, relentless hard work. They did whatever they had to do, to ensure we had what we needed, and made no quarrel or excuse along the way..

So everyday, I think of my why. My role models gave me the opportunity to be better than I deserve. And my success is theirs as are my failures. I do everything for them and the family I have today. My overall success is predicated on an obligation to be what people never thought we could be. And I just hope, that my children and the next generation can follow my example but be 25 times greater than I ever was.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career started after graduating from The South Carolina State University.  My first job out of college was with a company called eServ, a small engineering firm specializing in outsourcing elite talent for the purposes of designing engineering solutions.   This by far was the most fun and fulfilling work atmosphere I’ve ever been a part of to date, and that says a lot, because I’ve worked at some amazing places, with some amazing people.  It was there I got my foundation, because the size of the firm forced it’s employees to wear different hats.  So I not only refined my engineering skills, I learned the art of engineering sales approach, I managed, lead and help primary design control of my own projects, I moderated meetings, controlled change initiatives and new product implementations, and built and supervised the build of my design products amongst many other things.  eServe is literally the only job that I can say everything I learned there, I continue to use in my own entrepreneurial journey.

Throughout the course of this life’s expedition, I’ve had the priviledge of working with companies like Caterpillar, Orbital Sciences Corp, The US Army, Ballad Healthcare, Raytheon RTX, General Dynamics, Sentara Healthcare, Tek-Systems, and many more.  Those places mentioned and the experiences garnered have honed the person I am today.  Through good and bad, wins and loses, everything has been a learning opportunity preparing me for today.  As a result, today I am the CEO of my own firm, I serve in all the aforementioned capacities, and this year, we are looking to grow our company by 150%, by recruiting primarily from HBCU’s and grooming young adults with the same elite work ethic, innovative mindset,  initiative, aspirations and leadership characteristics.
I’ve worked long and hard tooth and nail, to get to the point to give back to the individuals, institutions and the universe that invested in me.  NOW IS THE TIME!!!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
