We had the good fortune of connecting with Devon Fry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Devon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I knew that I could not obtain the things and dreams I had for myself and my family by working for someone else.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a small company that focuses on providing the best customer service and cleaning experience possible. We really want our clients to be satisfied and will do whatever we can to make sure that they are. This market is over saturated with companies and individuals that clean. It takes a lot to set yourself apart from the others. I believe that people see how hard we work and how dedicated we are to making sure are clients are happy, good customer service keeps them coming back. In our slow season we like to give discounted or even free cleans to elderly individuals that can’t clean like they use to. We believe it’s important to take care of the ones that used to take care of us. We got our name Cleaner Living because I was once addicted to drugs. When I got clean I decided to start the company. We had to overcome a lot especially with that stigma hanging over our heads. Some people didn’t want me in their house or want us to clean for them. Other cleaning companies would make jabs about how they are fully background checked and how important it is that your cleaner has a squeaky clean background. I’m sure that was in hopes they could take some business from us and maybe they did. I found that by being honest about my past and living right now that most people didn’t care what I was once like. I’m not that person anymore, I don’t even recognize that person. What matters is what I do today. People like to see the underdog win. We were definitely the underdogs by our community supported us, recommended us, vouched for us and stood by us and this little company grew and grew. There is no way we got to where we are without their support. It’s a God thing. He has blessed us for sure. Many people have tried to stop us, slander us or bring us down but God has his hands around us and this company and we know we can’t be stopped as long as He is in it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to the square in Clarkesville and we would shop, eat lunch at Your Pie or Olde Town Pub, have ice cream at Scoops, drive down 197 to see the beautiful sites, up to Lake Burton and Rabun, through Clayton to shop on the square and then to Helen for the evening. We live in a beautiful area with so much to do. We have hiking, camping, fishing and so much more. Driving to our clients homes, we see some of the most beautiful scenery.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To my mom who started this thing with me and at 66 years old can out work everyone I know. She shows up and pushes me everyday. To the ladies that work with us, we could not do it without them and to my husband who I learned so much from and is my biggest fan.
