Meet DeVione Branscumb | Certified Style Coach & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with DeVione Branscumb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DeVione, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in Kansas City Missouri. Growing up I was a plus size kid with high levels of confidence to everyone on the outside but on the inside, I wish to be smaller, and I wanted to look different. I use to struggle with my identify and who I was as an individual. I struggled with what I wanted to do in life but during the struggle I realized I felt a little better about myself when I get dressed and I use to act as if I was important, and had a booked and busy schedule, but I only acted this way when I really liked my outfit. In 2014 I had gastric sleeve surgery, and it changed my life forever. It created a feeling that I was proud of, and I reached a goal that I always dreamed of. This life changing moment applied internal happiness to my inner confidence. I was proud to be me and now, I can relate to others from both ends of the weight spectrum.

I attended Stephens College in Columbia MO and studied Fashion Marketing & Management. Even though I did not graduate from this college it laid the foundation for me and my business. I worked in fashion retail for over a decade as a store manager until I realized that I have a gift to help, encourage and coach others personal style. I was definitely nervous about the career change, but I was ready to step outside my comfort zone and believe in me for once. I graduated from the Style Coaching Institute located in London as the 11th Certified Style Coach in the Country and the 1st Certified/Licensed Style Professional in the Midwest and launched SVF in 2020. Style Vs Fashion StylingCo. is a full-service wardrobe styling company targeting individuals who desires to change their appearance, increase self-confidence and help individuals Dress For Success with high levels of confidence.

Business: SVF is a full-service wardrobe styling/coaching company. Our mission is to develop our clients look at any perceived imperfection to both men and women in a way that we help the client to have a healthy appreciation of their unique bodies and thereby help our clients to develop a sense of their own style that works best for them as an individual. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite spots in Kansas City to visit is Eggtc. It’s a brunch spot close to the Kansas City Plaza area and the food is amazing and they have a full bar available for alcoholic beverages or spiked coffee, which is one of my favs.

One of my favorite things to do in Kansas City is attend the Chiefs game. Home of the 2023 Super Bowl Champions

One of my favorite places to hang out in Kansas City is at the Parlor. This place is epic, it’s a collection of chefs coming together to advance the concept of what a restaurant could be…it’s made up of 3 levels with 2 bars offering a variety of casual and creative dining options. Its comfortable for people to relax, socialize and enjoy a phenomenal atmosphere.

Some exciting places to check out would be top golf, power & light district, the negro baseball museum, worlds of fun. Union Station is a Signiant place to our city, it offers fine dining, shopping and family oriented activates.

Crown Center is at the top of my list for places to visit because they have great shopping and a variety of food options

Last but not least I would like to honor the person I have always looked up to, my father Robert Branscumb. My dad is the strongest person I know, and he has been a company owner for 30 plus years. He has always showed me what’s it like to be the BOSS and I have followed right in his footsteps. Thank you, daddy, for always inspiring me, guiding me and keeping me faithful to myself as an individual. I love you so much!
