We had the good fortune of connecting with DeVante “DC D-Nice” Steward and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DeVante “DC D-Nice”, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My inspiration behind being an artist stems from my Grandmother. She’s a singer and since I was in grade school getting off the bus she would have her tape recorder singing songs and creating lyrics from thin air. Sometimes she would invite me and my cousins to say something on the mic and from there my love for telling stories over music grew.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a recording artist/songwriter.
Like stated I got into music because of my grandmother but decided to take it serious and professionally right after grade school. I remember seeing my first check from art that I created and thought to myself I can really be paid doing something that I love and it not be a burden. The process of songwriting and becoming a professional at it , was not easy for me. The industry is dark and evil, I’ve been f*cked over here and there by labels, stolen ideas and scammed and to overcome that and want to continue at one point of time became a struggle because countless hours are spent creating just for someone to steal or misuse you hurts. During the process I’ve learned that everyone isn’t your friend and everything that’s good to you may not be good to everyone else and that’s okay. When it comes to what I want the world to think of me and my brand just that everything is authentic, raw and uncut. I don’t create for the masses but I create for me and pray they understand love the creation.

I have a music project releasing on 7.3.25 entitled “Not This Time” that will be released on all streaming platforms.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m really a laid back individual but I wouldn’t be a good friend if we didn’t get JJs Fish and Chicken but it has to be the one connected to the gas station. If the timing is right we will hit up Rum Punch brunch if we stepping out somewhere. To catch sports you can more than likely catch me and Twin Peaks , drinks are at a realistic price there lol. Ponce city is a vibe during the spring and summer time. Catch any event hosted by Landon or Vokal , can’t go wrong with that. It’s so many places to try and fit into words at the moment. Last but not least we will grab some American deli. And can you really say you came to ATL if you don’t hit up a strip club and live a little??!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
P-Nut Steward (Sister) – She motivates me by being herself. I’ve seen her build her brand from the ground up. She’s also in the entertainment industry, she writes and tell stories through films and books. I’ve always looked to up , whether it was with grades or just being cool as her. She’s stays on my neck at times to prevent me from giving up on certain projects. She’s now a first time mother officially but she’s always been a second mom to me.

Pops & Mama- when it comes to my professional career, these two are the biggest inspiration. I’ve never seen them both work hard and they never let me down growing up when it came to being there and I honestly didn’t appreciate it as much as I do now. That really shaped me into staying the course. Pops is a Cyber IT Manager and Mama is a High Organization logistics coordinator.
