We had the good fortune of connecting with Destiny Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Destiny, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by love. That’s the only emotion that gives me motion.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is in print form. My portfolios I’ve created over the years from modeling just reminds me that I didn’t do this for nothing. I have been free lance since I started (at 8) . It gets extremely discouraging moving to a city like this. Everyone is already known so it’s like “who are you”. It’s taken me a little longer to network and find genuine connections. In the mist of all the creeps out there, fake bodies, ect. I have to always stay true to who I am. That has been the biggest obstacle. Not giving into temptation for money and fame. I don’t want that. I never wanted fame. I only wanted to create art from the images in my mind. I feel that slow motion is motion. We get too wrapped up in the fast life we forget to enjoy the ride. I just want a slow ride living my dreams.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my befriend comes to visit from Memphis we go to Delia’s Chicken sausage stand for the smack-n-cheese. Visit a few bars on Old National, Mingles Bar and Grill, New Orleans Daiquiri Bar. If it’s summer time I definitely recommend going to one of the roof top pools for a vacation vibe. Metro Fun Center and Studio Movie Grill is always a win for those fall/ winter months.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My daughter motivates me every single day to get up and get out!. The life I watched my parents chase I want to make it to the finish line for my child.
