We had the good fortune of connecting with Destiny Quarles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Destiny, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my own business when I was a high school student.I worked two part time jobs at Chick-fil-A and home goods, but I always knew I had more to offer than just my 9 to 5. In high school I always had a plan, I knew that I wanted to go to esthetician school right after I graduated. I began to think of ways that I can start a business that would go along with my future career path. I took a leap of faith and decided to save up to invest in taking a mink lash extension class. My thought process was to start lashing in school and once I go on to esthetician school my services will align. I also had a collection of bracelets that I would wear on a daily basis with positive energy charms. I would always get compliments on the bracelets, one day I thought to myself how easy it would be for me to actually sell them with me being my own promotion. After creating a business plan I then came up with the business I now have today LinkNdMinksCo.

Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Both of my businesses LinkNdMinksCo & SummerLynnEsthetics are a work in progress. I have launched both of them and I am improving and perfecting them daily! In whatever I do I would like to be able to spread positive energy and good vibes! With LinkNdMinksCo I achieve that by selling positive energy jewelry like the Hamsa hand pendants , Buddha necklaces , and of course the positive energy links. With SummerLynn Esthetics I achieve my goal by first having my energy aligned. Energy is transferable & when I am providing a service my good energy will be transferred onto my client as I perform a service for them. I work very hard to keep a positive mindset and attitude on a day to day basis despite what life may throw my way. In addition to providing esthetics services I have also created a YouTube channel documenting my journey while I’m in esthetician school, recording my services I provide, tips and suggestions on being an esthetician & more! I also will be combing LinkNdMinks in my YouTube channel showcasing new collections & products , my packaging process, behind the scenes of my photo shoots and more! My goal with creating my YouTube is showcase what I’ve learned and what I am continuing to learn in the business industry. I would like to help and give insight/inspiration to anyone who is interested in the same business industry as me! You can subscribe and watch my first video by searching SummerLynn The Esthetician! My business journey hasn’t been easy I’ve had a lot of challenges and obstacles that I have learned from over a period of time. Through it all I kept my faith and kept pushing until I reached my goal. When I’m trying to overcome a challenge I tend to self isolate and just focus solely on my purpose. Sometimes I have to cut out on going out and hanging with friends so that I can focus, get things done and celebrate once I have achieved it. It’s hard but self discipline is very imperative when trying to reach your highest level of success. What I would like the world to know about my me and my brand is that I am a young , hardworking, God-loving , African American woman providing quality products that are fashionable yet positive energy symbols. I am also training to become one of the best Esthetician’s providing a top tier service to all of Atlanta and eventually more of the world! I am constantly evolving and expanding my brand and I’m enjoying every phase on this road to success!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Upon arrival I would take my bestie on Edgewood to go to Chef Kodak he is located in Ghostbar. He has the best pasta in Atl as well as other good entries including his late night breakfast starting at 3am! I love going to brunch and day parties in Atlanta some of my fav spots are Oak and cirque. I would also like to show them around some of our “tourist” places around the city like the Georgia aquarium, the trap house music museum, the selfie museum, and maybe even go to Cascade on a Sunday. There’s literally always something going on in Atlanta and we can go with the flow and where the vibes are at the weekend of the trip and have a ball!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I have to give all praise to the most high, God! I’ve had a relationship with God for as long as I can remember. My faith in God has gotten me through some of the toughest times of my life, I will forever be a walking testimony! The person who has instilled these values in me is my mother. My mom has made a SIGNIFICANT contribution to my story. I grew up with my mom in the hair salon as she works as a master cosmetologist and a all around business woman. With doing so everyday she has given me a lot of knowledge on life and entrepreneurship. She has been very supportive and hands on with everything I decide to do in life including my entrepreneurship journey. My mom is definitively my motivation and inspiration in life , I work very hard to give her the lifestyle she desires!
