We had the good fortune of connecting with Destiny Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Destiny, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
What made me want to start my own business honestly was to get away from the 9-5 job that I had . I’m 17 and I felt like even though ive only worked 2 jobs I couldn’t do it for the rest of my life . It just isn’t a thing for me.I had the determination that I could do something that I truly loved to do and make it my own thing instead of going to go do something I was dreading because I felt like I had to do it. I’m in love with smelling good and keeping my skin clear, I would always freak out if I even had a small little bump on my face you can ask my mom lol ,So I figured why not make my own skincare business, but with natural ingredients . I researched what I needed I took the money that I made saved it and started to buy materials so I could learn how to make my own products to sell eventually and then it started to become a hobby for me , the minute I got bored I would see what else I could make and it took me a while for me to figure out my brand and how I wanted things but now I’ve fell in love with my brand and how everything turned out.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have a skincare line named Dessgalore and with Dessgalore I didn’t just want it to me just throwing stuff in jars and labeling it a skincare line just to make money off it , I wanted to be a skincare line where I would actually use natural ingredients . My biggest thing was that I wanted people to actually see results when they used my products .So I did my research and I learned about the different oils and butters that are really good for the skin and known to be effective with lighting dark spots and blemishes , clearing acne and etc and I have to say that’s what I’m most proud of , me putting in the work to actually research and understand why certain oils have the benefits that they do and what are they good to be paired with etc.. it took me a while to get formulas right and it’s honestly something that I’m still learning with my newer products but it’s something that you learn over time and that’s one of the things I’ve learned so far . You can’t rush everything . When you try to nothing ends up going right , it’s okay to take your time because at the end the result is going to be even better . Even now I look back at my old samples of products I’ve made when I’ve first started pursuing Dessgalore and notice how I’ve gotten so much better and consistent by constantly just working on it and striving for better each time .Everytime I noticed something I didn’t like about a sample product I made , I didn’t get sad about it , I just noticed what I could do better and where I went wrong and fixed it and now I love them and I hope my future customers will love them just as much as I do. Pretty much what I want you to take from this is that you can do anything you put your mind to , but you have to be willing to put in the work and be dedicated and success isn’t to be rushed it happened over time. It’s easy to get unmotivated by little things but you should let it motivate you even more instead.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My bestfriend lives here lol but if she lived out of state and was visiting i would take her to taqueria tsunami to eat . It’s literally one of my fav places to eat and then we could go ride to the city and just view Atlanta . Although I’ve been here for 4 years I haven’t did much sight seeing as I would like so I would definitely just want to ride around and check out places like a aquarium or a museum.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Mostly, my mom and my dad and I have a few friends that encourage and support me as well .My mom and Dad has a big role in me starting my business because they have always supported me no what I wanted to do , they always make sure to give me feedback on things I create and give me new ideas of stuff to do in the future . They truly are the most supportive and I wouldn’t trade them for the world honestly ! And my friends are always there for me , cheering me on and sharing my posts with other people and I love them for that !
