We had the good fortune of connecting with DeSitaa Lipscomb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DeSitaa, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is God. Without him nothing is possible. I feel like being sensitive to how I should make certain moves is directly tied to God’s influence and Grace in my life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My journey to founding Grace First Production Company in Atlanta, GA, was anything but straightforward. It wasn’t always easy navigating the politics of the entertainment industry. From my early days of hands-on training on iconic platforms like MTV, BET and the Souls Train Award shows to collaborating with the award-winning Ruth E. Carter, on Selma. Every experience enriched my understanding of storytelling. Along the way, I was passionate about imparting knowledge, evident from the film classes I conducted for the youth, and I realized the importance of versatility in roles, which I showcased across VH1, A&E, and at unforgettable events like The Quincy Jones and Friends Show.

One of the most profound lessons I learned was understanding the nuances of a production’s journey from its inception to its final bow. This insight laid the foundation for Grace First, which soon became the go-to for Visual Storytelling in areas like The City of East Point and for organizations like the ATL District Atlanta. It’s our commitment to capturing stories with elegance, courtesy, and that extra touch of dedication. I want the world to recognize not just a brand but a heartfelt commitment to the community and storytelling. Balancing my thriving business with family life, alongside a supportive husband and two children, speaks volumes about my resilience and passion.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hanging out in ATL there is so much to do. My favorite thing to do is go thrift shopping or to yard sales because it’s like a treasure hunt. We would definitely go to Revolution Doughnuts, Little Rays Mexican Restaurant and maybe check out Ponce City Market Rooftop.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to Shoutout my hubby, Vidal Lipscomb and my mother, Bonnie Roberts. They have been super supportive of my growth and assisting with the kids and life in general. I want to thank the female mentors in my life, Charlie Vaughn and Shoccara Marcus, who have spoken positivity into me and pushed me to dream bigger. Also I want to thank all my clients who have believed in Grace First’s ability to grow their brands and have treated us as a family.
