We had the good fortune of connecting with Derrick Warner CPS-AD and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Derrick, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’m running a nonprofit that’s for the purpose of Reentry and prison prevention. I believe this will allow those men with lived experience with the criminal justice system assist with peer coaching. And I believe they have a better chance of understanding of those that are probably in risk of going to prison. We will support those returning citizens with what they need to have a successful transition and as well provide love and care for those young men that are struggling with living and healthy life.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
REACT Corporation is a nonprofit that’s dedicated to helping people to achieve what success looks like in their mind. We are not in the business of fixing but rather assisting them in becoming what they consider to be redeemed.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If had had a friend coming in town the day would most certainly begin with a tour of downtown Atlanta to see some of Atlanta’s historical sights. Then in would take them to Circ Blue seafood restaurant on Howell Mill Road. After dinner we would go to Mable House amphitheater to listen to some live music. That would be the perfect day. Mable House is an amazing venue and lots of fun.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Georgia Council for Recovery changed my perspective on mentorship and peer support. We are not trying to fix people but rather helping them where they are attain what redemption looks like for them.
