We had the good fortune of connecting with Derrell Qualls and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Derrell, how do you think about risk?
I believe risk taking is an essential part of growth. I see risk not as something to be feared but as a necessary step toward success. Every major breakthrough in my life and career has come from taking a leap of faith. Whether it was stepping into the world of professional wrestling, putting myself out there as an actor, or other future endeavors. I took a risk into the unknown when I started my wrestling journey in 2015 at MCW (Maryland Championship Wrestling). In four year time, I was wrestling on T.V. and P.PV.. Then stepping into the realm of acting, I had to learn a new skill and find emotions to bring to my characters from one project to another. The risk here is constantly putting yourself out there in order to be critiqued constantly, and being able to bring the words on the pages to life. I believe these risks have allowed me to find something within myself that as long as I believe I can do it, I can accomplish anything.

In my career, taking risks has allowed me to stand out, connect with my audience on a deeper level, and continuously evolve. The biggest rewards often lie on the other side of fear, and I believe that embracing discomfort is the key to unlocking new levels of success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is storytelling. Whether I am in the ring as a professional wrestler or on screen as an actor, my goal is to make people feel something real. Wrestling and acting are two sides of the same coin. Both require physicality, emotion, and the ability to connect with an audience on a deep level. What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity. I do not just perform, I live my craft. Every move I make in the ring, every line I deliver on screen, is infused with my passion, my experiences, and my unique perspective.

I am most proud of the journey itself. It has not been easy, in fact, far from it. The path to success in wrestling and acting is filled with rejection, sacrifice, and moments of doubt. But I have learned that resilience is everything. I got to where I am today through relentless dedication, embracing failure as a stepping stone, and constantly evolving. I have taken risks, bet on myself, and refused to settle.

One of the biggest lessons I have learned is that consistency and work ethic will always outshine raw talent. The grind never stops, and those who endure are the ones who make it. I have also learned the power of storytelling. Not just in the ring or on set, but in life. Your story, your brand, and your message are what make you unforgettable.

If there is one thing I want the world to know, it is that my journey is about inspiring others to chase their dreams with everything they’ve got. Whether you are an aspiring wrestler, actor, or dreamer in any field, I want my story to be proof that passion, persistence, and purpose can take you anywhere.
