We had the good fortune of connecting with Denise Lawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Denise, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business was how, when and why. We all have been affected by COVID-19, being in Hospitality industry was hit extremely hard. I had to think about adding income due to the possibility of becoming temporarily unemployed. It was the uncertainty of how I was going to move forward. With moving forward I had to really put thought into my “why”. It has always my dream of owning my a Boutique. As a woman that has always stayed in tune with the trends, styles and seasonal colors, it was really a no brainer. Having the love for fashion has always been my niche. My “why” became a little more clearer, because I love to see a well dressed woman. Whether it’s simply casual or elegantly beautiful but yet stylish.
What should our readers know about your business?
I believe what sets me apart from others is the fact the pieces I have on my website, you have not seen much of. My items are about catching the attention of others, or simply a conversation piece. When selecting products, I keep in mind “what statement will this piece make” when a man or woman eyes come into contact with the individual. I’m not where I want to be, I’m just getting started! This business is not easy, based on the fact there are a lot of moving parts in fashion. There’s certain conversations you have with your vendors or manufacturers. I will say to anyone ask the questions, write the reviews, search what’s trending seasonally. I want the world to know that my brand in this world of fashion is to win.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite hangout spot is Atlantic Station, great shopping and awesome dining options. From there we can hangout in one of Atlanta’s premium Shopping Malls, Perimeter Center Mall. Great shopping amazing dining options within a 5 mile radius. We would also hangout Ponce City Market, great atmosphere, nice food selections.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes, there are several friends and family members I would love to shout out. Their thoughts, prayers and encouragement that have pushed me. Also, there are a circle of ladies that I have met over this past year, gave me ideas and great suggestions, but more importantly support. That support was not monetary, it was referring my business on their platforms. I would like to give a great big shout out to my daughter and her best friend. They have supported my vision, packed my orders, shipped the product, put together great photo shoots just to mention a few things. They have assisted me in every way possible.
