We had the good fortune of connecting with Delica Duffy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Delica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to accomplish a few things. First, I want to accomplish retiring my parents. I figured that was the very least I could do. They have poured so much into me and my dreams. I also wanted to allow them to enjoy the rest of their “Golden Years”. Second, I wanted to gain financial freedom. I started to use my 9-5 to fund my 5-9.  I invested in myself and became a Realtor. I had already fallen in love with Real Estate at a very young age through my parents’ exposure as they used to frequently attend Open Houses as a pastime. Finally, I wanted to be able to educate and help people build generational wealth. As most people look at a home purchase as a place to lay down roots, and create lasting memories, buying a home may also have long-term financial benefits. As building generational wealth is on the top of my mind, helping others invest in Real Estate is one effective way to grow wealth that can be passed onto future generations.

What should our readers know about your business?
As an Atlanta native, being blessed to join the award winning Luxury Collective Group, at Compass Atlanta Exclusive Brokerage. Becoming a Realtor took a lot of grit. That grit also came along with late nights and early mornings. Making sure you have the right tribe around you makes a big difference as well. I never gave up on myself as I had been seeking to become a Realtor since 2015. Finally, I held myself accountable for my actions and outcome of my journey. I decided to bet on myself in November 2021 which was my 40th birthday milestone. I was determined to complete what I had started. I put my blinders on and became selfish and took care of business and was done in 4 months which included school and passing the state examination. That was just the beginning. As I continued to learn, by specializing in working with home Buyers, Sellers, and Investors with my team of Realtors who rank among the top 5% of Atlanta Realtors Association 10,000+ members. I had to make sure I pulled my own weight. While servicing Atlanta and surrounding areas my hard work, integrity, attention to detail and outstanding client service is the core of my success in real estate. In addition to my real  estate experience, I have more than 20 years of customer service, sales, and utility industries experience. I also enjoy traveling and spending time with my husband and two children.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As previously mentioned, being a native to Atlanta I would start at some of the classic locations. Such as Walter’s Clothing because I am a true old school sneakerhead. Then we could head over to Busy Bee Café for some southern cuisine. Day 2 we could grab breakfast at Breakfast at Barney’s and hangout at Atlantic Station. By the third day we would hit up the Red Pepper Restaurant for some Mexican and end the day chilling out at Ponce City Market.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So, my shoutout goes to of course my family, friends who have become family, everyone rooting for me and sending me positive vibes. Also, my team at Compass: Luxury Collective Group and finally God and my Ancestors.
