We had the good fortune of connecting with DEE MO and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DEE, why did you pursue a creative career?
Honestly I didn’t pursue music. Music just came to me, if you know what I mean. Everywhere I went had 2 things 1 Dancing and 2 cyphers.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Where do I begin? When it comes to music there are many factors as an artist. One factor I like is called stepping outside the box, which means be different. I love stepping outside of the box. You’ll always standout in many ways. I just don’t get on stage and just rap. I get on stage and put on a show weather it’s 2 people or thousands of people. I have great songwriting and my sound is completely different. One thing I am most proud of is, that in 2014 I was nominated for Best New Entertainer in the Chicago Music Awards the same year Lil Durk was nominated. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for my fans, friends and organizations and labels that help mold and push me to be me. It’s not easy as an artist, but with Determination, Dedication, Staying Focused and being true to self ways a toll on a artist. Some nights it’s no sleep and many nights you’re traveling on the road touring or promoting and have to do interview after interview with no rest and sometimes not enough strength, but you just have to toughen up and suck it in and do your job and pull through. Good thing for me is that I stay full of energy and I learned along time ago that as an artist you have to stay alert at all times. For everybody that took the time out to read my article, I’d like to thank you all and if you can follow me along my journey by following me on IG @DeeMo_Dat_Nigga
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If one of my friends visited me I’d have to take them to Glow Bar or Royal Peacock because you can shoot some pool and party in a cool setting with some good food and good drinks. Also, I’d make sure to take them to a few studios throughout the week.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Most definitely I’d like to shoutout a lot of people that helped along my journey. David Cherry and the All Stars Project of Chicago, Griff and Blaze On of Virtual X inc, Royce Glamour Can Tv Show Chicago, Promoter Linda McWright retired Chicago park district, Eric and Larry and Mary of Flash Flood Entertainment, Solow91 and O.G. Frat Bona of OGMM, KEEF of 32 Ent and to all of my fans and to my girl soon to be wife Teishanna Dewberry.
