We had the good fortune of connecting with Debbie Calabro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Debbie, how does your business help the community?
My social media pages help the community by letting others know about amazing businesses and events in the area. I love featuring a local business and then get an email from the business about how many new clients came in. I love helping others and spreading the word about places and all they have to offer.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the content creator behind Debbie Discovers Atlanta and Beyond on Instagram, Facebook, and starting to post on TikTok and Threads. I love to explore Atlanta and anywhere I go with my son and love sharing what we do with my followers.
I try to give my followers all the information they need to visit places like where to park, where to dine, and other fun things are in the area,
I like to post about events, places to dine, family friendly places, girls nights out, date nights suggestions, places to hike and places to take vacations all with tips from when we visited to make their time there amazing.
I love when followers let me know they would not have gone somewhere without my post and how much their family enjoyed it. Helping others is my love language!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta has so much to offer! I would let them know that Atlanta has so many amazing areas to visit and to visit one area a day.
Downtown: When friends visit for the first time I love taking them downtown to the Georgia Aquarium, Football Hall of Fame, Children’s Museum if they have small kids, World of Coke, Skyview Atlanta, and National Center for Civil and Human Rights. For a casual lunch I would suggest Social 62 in the American Hotel. For a nice dinner, I highly recommend Nikolai’s Roof. It has amazing views of the city, 5 star service and 5 star food.
Grant Park Area is great to spend the day at the Atlanta Zoo. Gab something to eat at the new food hall Halidom Eatery which is opening May 10, 2024. It will host 11 local chef driven places to dine.
Awesome Alpharetta is another great area with shopping at Halcyon, Avalon and North Point Mall. There is an amazing Greenway to ride bikes and be sure to visit downtown Alpharetta City Center. On Saturdays from April to October they have an amazing farmers market, and great places to shop and dine. The Hamilton Hotel is a great place to stay as it is located close to everything. It has the Roaring Social downstairs to dance at and a live night life and Sorella Vicina for a great meal. Next door is Mercantile Social a fun bar that usually has a pop up theme. Joel is amazing there and makes you feel like family!
North Georgia is another great area to visit. We rented a house at Kaya Winery one weekend and loved it. There are so many amazing wineries up here. Wolf Mountain is great for Sunday Brunch, make a reservation ahead! Montaluce is my favorite for dinner. Cavender Creek Vineyards is great for a laid back atmosphere with animals roaming around!
Atlanta has so many great places and if you want more suggestions check out my FB and IG page Debbie Discovers Atlanta!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Helen Keller said ‘My friends have made the story of my life. They have always encouraged me and supported me through this journey, many have been there since I first began.
I want to shout out Jen Speers if I could. She is a local mom of 3, who I met at my son’s daycare about 10 years ago. She works for a company who helped design a piece for the Artemis space rocket. 2 years ago I was coming home from a social media class in Nashville and she messaged me about how NASA has this amazing social media program and I should apply for. I took her advice and 2 years later I got it.
I am eternally thankful for her in believing in me and letting me know about.
