We had the good fortune of connecting with De’Aris Jinks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi De’Aris, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I wanted to pursue an artistic career in photography because I wanted to share to the world the things I see. Photography is an artform that expresses one’s self. It isnt my main career(yet), but hopefully one day this will be my only job!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well I do Portraits Photography, and not just any portraits, I love to tell stories. I like to combine the location and subjects in a photo to bring out the creative juices. I want my pictures to reach the viewer’s soul, I want them to understand the subjects in the pictures. I use to went to film school, but now that my passion switched to still photos, I still want to create a story through them.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The places I would take my friend to would be: Ponce City market, then walk on the beltline. go to Edgewood for some bar hopping, Centennial Park and make check out the Georgia aquarium, and then go to Little 5 Points to chill and get a bite to eat.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Hmmm well, I guess I do have someone that indirectly ld me back on the path to photography, and that would be fellow YouTuber/ street photographer, Evan Ranft based here in Atlanta. His videos inspired me to get a camera and start shooting again.
