We had the good fortune of connecting with De’Aren Trannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi De’Aren, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Serving others and seeing the joy on their faces makes me happy. That is why I love doing makeup. I love to watch the transformation and the look on my client’s faces when they see their look revealed. I truly believe that makeup magnifies the beauty within. I am the happiest when I am able to create.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is that doing make up is what I was born to do. So this means that I am truly passionate about my work and I put my all into every client. I make sure that when a client leaves my chair, they are not just satisfied but also leaves with a new level of confidence. It took a lot of time for me to completely tap into my gift. I’ve done makeup for family, friends, associates on many occasions for years. But I never really showcased it or even took myself seriously as a makeup artist. I am an extreme perfectionist and always thought my work was not quite “good enough” to showcase to the public. However, I had to realize that even the most renowned artists had to start from somewhere and that practice does make perfect (or close to it).
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First things first “Breakfast/Brunch”! I would have brunch reservations for their entire stay. Next shopping at various venues in the city. I love adventure so I would also schedule some fun outdoor activities. Of course end the nights off with dinner and exploring night life in the city. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank God first and foremost for giving me the talent and ability to use my gift. I also want to thank my family and friends for being supportive and always encouraging me to keep going and never give up.
