We had the good fortune of connecting with DeAnna Butler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DeAnna, what inspires you?
I’m inspired by life, growth, and how magnificent the smallest of things can make someone smile. Life is so precious but we sometimes take it for granted. Do u know that everyday you open your eyes is a new day to do something better then you did the day before. Like right now I’m doing this interview for Voyage Atl….Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Simply Produce LLC is more then a company that sells produce. We’re family. Once you begin to support our vision, for your heart healthy journey then you get a better understanding of why we do what we do. Heart health or being healthy in general is something everyone can relate to and something that as we get older we pay more attention too. I started my company because I wanted the people in my community and beyond to have a healthy alternative to what we’re normally offered in low income areas. That being said I was also raised to know that grapes are supposed to have seeds, just like watermelons, lemons and limes and I was having a hard time finding these seeded items. So I decided I would provide them and I think that sets us apart from others. We refuse to sell unseeded fruit. Not really knowing a lot about business but knowing I wanted to be in business was a little bit stressful as well. Okay I lied I was stressed out lol. My beliefs pushed me forward anyway. And the struggle was definitely real as we had done no real advertising other then a few mailers. It wasn’t until I connected with the SBA and a few other organizations that we got a little business sense behind us. About a year after opening we realized there was a market for fresh pressed juices. So we now have a line of fresh juices available that our customers love. And to also help improve your heart health we added fresh fruit and salad bowls to our list of items. We have worked really hard to get to where we are and the road was not easy at all but we made the best of it. On so many occasions I thought we would close but through prayer, hard work, and a Man that believes in us, we’re still here. I’ve learned so much traveling this road and I’ve had fun while doing it. One lesson in life is to never give up or give in. Your beliefs become your reality. Always believe in yourself especially when you’re broke down on your knees. Use that time to remember why you started and keep pressing forward. I completely love what I do and I wouldn’t change it for nothing. I built this brand with you in mind so that we all can live a heart healthy lifestyle.Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well my bestfriend has an appetite just like me. So on the first day we’d have to order breakfast from Sundry Events & Catering LLC because I’m sure she’d be tired from the trip. From there we may do lunch at Slider’s Burger Joint. Most our evenings will be spent at the spot my cousin hosts which is C & S Oyster Bar. In the time that she’s here I’m sure we’ll visit Golden Krust Fairburn, Sammy Cheesecake, Chef AC Price, Chef Tiffany Moore’s Bistro, Slutty Vegan, Chef Buddy Love’s Delivery service, and delivery by Crackin Crab’s Chef Michael. We probably wouldn’t hang out that much due to Covid-19. But I think that the businesses listed here that actually have brick and mortar locations are exceptional. Over my forty seven years in life I’ve learned that all people can be fun and exciting in the right setting but the most exciting thing to me is driving up to Yonah Mountains and looking out over the mountains. It’s simply breathtaking. We drove around and visited the little shops. They even had panning for gold shops. This is by far worth doing.Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a huge shoutout to my partner in Life Mr. N’namdi Toombs owner of Moses Automotive who had to sit up and listen to me day in and day out talk about my vision, Not only has he been an ear, he’s been my front, my BACK, and my side to side. This Man works really hard for every dollar he earns and on more then one occasion he paid the rent in full to my brick and mortar location so that I could stay in business. Without his help I would not be in business. He has went out of his way and has often taken his last to be sure that we had what we needed to keep my dream alive, He truly believes in me. I mean for a person to support your dreams while still maintaining his own is commendable. And I don’t say it often enough but I Love and Cherish him. So Shoutout to you Mr. Toombs for all you’ve done and continue to do! I Love you more then you know and more then I show. If I may I’d also Love to give thanks to these companies/city/corporations as well for believing in us so much we were awarded grants from each of them, within the last year, that has kept us afloat because the pandemic was surely trying to take us out, LISC/Local Initiatives Support Co partnered with Lowe’s Home Improvement, the city in which I live and love City Of South Fulton, and last but never least AEO/Association for Enterprise Opportunity. Thanks again to all of you.
