We had the good fortune of connecting with Deandre Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deandre, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor would have to be.. vigilance. I don not accept no as an acceptable answer. I truly believe we all have the power to mold the outcome of any situation. I can’t be stopped by anyone but myself and I love those words daily.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe what I do is art for a lot of reasons, and it took a while for me to look at the word “artist” and see myself within those realms. I am a engineer by schooling, but I’ve always had this passion for automobiles. At the age of 13, I was burning up batteries and wiring in my parents vehicles, family members as well tryna find out what it was about them that intrigued me. I Remeber when I was like 13 and I watched my biological father install a system (subwoofers, amplifiers, interior speakers, etc) in this black ’05 Firebird he had. I just used to watch him work, seeing the determination and drive behind his hands wiring this here and setting this there. I wanted to know what he was doing to make his car sound so good. That’s where it all began. Now I create the thoughts and designs in my own head on peoples cars. For so long, I accepted less to an my worth to gain the buzz I needed to get my business going. I used to finish a job and drive home feeling so sad cause I barely made the gas money it took me to get here when I just finished a 1200 dollars worth of work on someone’s car. All that sadness was covered with vigilance. I knew one day I was going to get my come up, and even now I’m 2022 I still haven’t reached it, but it’s so much closer than it was in 2013 when I started my business. I am an artist because I dump so much into every project. PASSION, DRIVE, AMBITION,HUMBLENESS,LOVE. I leave a piece of me in every car InTouch, whether it be a alternator change, or a full custom outfitting. I feel my emotions move when I’m working or designing. I can’t focus on anything else BUT the thoughts in my head. I get aggravated or sad when I can’t figure something out and feel so much PASSION when I do get it sorted out. My emotions are tied into my business. It’s my first child, my true seed. I may not have all the hype of these big custom shops in Atlanta and I may not have a lot of followers on social media, but I promise I can make them look at me in aw with the projects I complete, because this is my life’s work, my name, my brand on this car, I did this and no one can take it away, I did this and it’ll never be forgotten, I did this and my name is said because of it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I go to alot of car shows, late night, track meets, I don’t consume meat (pescatarian) so I don’t really eat out much and if I do it’s usually some fried or something just to put something in my stomach. I got like social anxiety and stuff so I’m not really social unless I know you or it’s about cars. I do like to travel, alone usually just too see new places.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I don’t really know how to answer this.. I mean I’m thankful to my parents of course cause without them I’d not be here, but as far as me thanking anyone for my success? Of course I’ve had help along the way, but all in all, I made all this happen alone. I believe that no one is going to do for you as you would for yourself, so at the end of the day it’s natural for people to extend hands, yet still be selfish and I’m ok with that. I’ve never cheated, lied, stole, or gave up on me, so I guess I thank me.
